Children's growth and development are particularly fast. If their usual diet does not keep up, they may suffer from calcium deficiency. Once a child is calcium deficient, it will affect the development of bones. Therefore, parents must pay attention to this aspect. When parents find that their children have difficulty falling asleep, or often wake up at night, always cry, feel restless, have picky eating and anorexia and other symptoms, it may be due to calcium deficiency.

Signs and symptoms of calcium deficiency in children

If a child is calcium deficient, he or she will generally show these symptoms. If your baby shows these symptoms, it is best to take him to the hospital for a test. 1. It is difficult to fall asleep, let alone enter a deep sleep state. Night terrors, often waking up suddenly at night and crying incessantly. 2. Symptoms of calcium deficiency include sweating, crying, and waking up easily after falling asleep. It often manifests as excessive sweating, which is unrelated to temperature, especially sweating on the head after falling asleep, which causes the child's head to constantly rub against the pillow. After a long time, a bald circle can be seen behind the skull.

3. The baby will be irritable and restless during the day. And their teeth grow much later than other children. 4. Slow in learning. Paroxysmal abdominal pain, but no parasites were found, and there was no indigestion, enteritis, or other diseases. 5. Picky eating or anorexia. The knuckles are noticeably larger, and the phalanges are thin and weak. 6. Convulsions often occur. The nails are gray or have white marks. The forehead is high and protruding, forming a square head. Beaded ribs are often caused by a lack of vitamin D and the hyperplasia of the costal cartilage. The hyperplasia of the cartilage of each rib is connected like beads, which often compresses the lungs, making it difficult for children to ventilate and make them prone to bronchitis and pneumonia. 7. If a baby is severely deficient in calcium, he will have difficulty walking and his limbs will lack strength.

What to eat for babies with calcium deficiency

1. Fruits and vegetables - Amaranth and rapeseed. Many green leafy vegetables are not inferior in calcium supplementation effect. The calcium content of amaranth and rapeseed exceeds that of the same weight of milk. In addition, vegetables contain a large amount of mineral elements and vitamin K that help calcium absorption. The calcium absorption rate will be better if vegetables are blanched in boiling water before cooking. 2. Fish - Loach: At the same weight, the calcium content of loach is nearly 6 times that of carp and about 10 times that of hairtail. Loach and Tofu combines two calcium-rich ingredients, loach and tofu, into one, which is definitely a calcium-supplementing dish. 3. Seasoning - sesame paste: Eat a large spoonful of sesame paste (about 25 grams), which contains about 200 mg of calcium. Sesame paste can be used as a sauce for cold dishes and shabu-shabu mutton, and is also used in steamed buns, pancakes, fire-baked bread and other pastries. 4. Cereals - Oats Among all kinds of cereals, oats have the highest calcium content, which is 7.5 times that of refined rice. Although the absorption rate of calcium in oats is not as good as that in milk, it is still beneficial for preventing calcium deficiency. If you cook oats and black sesame seeds together into a delicious porridge, the calcium supplement effect will be better. 5. Soy products - Dried tofu is made by pressing and concentrating. Its calcium content is outstanding among soy products. For example, the calcium content of dried tofu can be as high as 7 times that of boiled tofu. If you use dried tofu instead of meat in stir-frying, the calcium content will increase significantly.
