Symptoms of drinking fake alcohol

Symptoms of drinking fake alcohol

Fake liquor is extremely harmful to human health. If fake liquor is mixed with industrial alcohol, it will often cause violent reactions in the body, irritate the stomach and intestines, cause symptoms of nausea and vomiting, cause great damage to the liver, and even easily cause acute pancreatitis. In addition, it also causes great harm to the patient's eyesight. The most common is permanent blindness in patients, and even poses a great danger to the patient's life safety.

Digestive symptoms

After drinking fake liquor, fusel alcohol will irritate the stomach and intestines, which may cause digestive system discomfort symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, upper abdominal pain, etc. It may also cause liver damage and may be complicated by acute pancreatitis.

Central nervous system symptoms

When drinking fake alcohol, fusel alcohol enters the blood, often accompanied by symptoms such as dizziness, headache, vertigo, fatigue, unsteady gait, insomnia, apathetic expression, and cloudy consciousness. In severe cases, there may also be confusion, coma, and epileptic convulsions.

Eye symptoms

Fake liquor is usually made of industrial alcohol, which contains a lot of methanol. Methanol is very irritating to the eyes. After drinking fake liquor, you may initially experience black shadows in front of your eyes, flashing lights, blurred vision, eye pain, photophobia, double vision, etc. In severe cases, vision deteriorates sharply, which may cause permanent blindness of both eyes.

Acidosis

After the formaldehyde in fake wine enters the body, it will be quickly metabolized into formic acid. If the intake is large, methanol will inhibit certain oxidase systems in the body, causing accumulation of lactic acid and other organic acids and formic acid, causing acidosis, and reduced carbon dioxide binding capacity. In severe cases, cyanosis will occur, and the patient will breathe deeply and rapidly like Kussmaul respiration. Kussmaul respirations: deep, regular, large breaths, either fast or slow, caused by various acidosis.

Symptoms of severe poisoning

Patients who drink too much fake alcohol and suffer from severe acute methanol poisoning will experience severe headaches, nausea, vomiting, a sharp decrease in vision, or even blindness, confusion, convulsions, and coma, and may eventually die of respiratory failure.
