What to do if your ear is infected with fungus

Fungal infection of the ear often leads to acute otitis externa. When this happens, it is necessary to receive timely and effective treatment. Some antifungal drugs should be used, such as erythromycin or spiramycin. Then some topical medications can be used, such as cortisone ointment or triamcinolone acetate cream, etc. Good results can be achieved through internal and external treatment. Let’s find out.

What to do if your ear is infected with fungus

1. Acute external otitis: Take erythromycin or spiramycin orally 3 times a day. It is advisable to take appropriate analgesics such as painkillers. 2. The external auditory canal can be coated with triamcinolone acetate cream, cortisone ointment, etc. 3. Ultrashort wave and infrared therapy.

Dietary precautions

Avoid spicy food. Avoid seafood that can cause irritation. Fishy foods, such as mandarin fish, yellow croaker, hairtail, black fish, shrimp, crab and other aquatic products can promote damp heat, aggravate vulva itching after eating, and are not conducive to the disappearance of inflammation, so they should be avoided.

Avoid sweet and greasy food. Avoid smoking and drinking. Smoking can make the disease worse, because the nicotine in tobacco can weaken the binding force between arterial blood and oxygen. Alcohol can promote dampness and heat, so it should be avoided. Similarly, foods containing alcohol, such as fermented rice wine, medicinal wine, etc., should not be consumed.

How to prevent it

Since mold is highly adaptable to changing environments and has considerable resistance to soapy water of different concentrations, it can be easily spread. Therefore, it is particularly important to do a good job in health prevention. The following points should be noted:

Eliminate the source of infection. Because the disease is highly contagious, widely prevalent, and a considerable proportion of healthy people are carriers, routine leucotrichomoniasis examinations should be performed on gynecological and obstetric outpatient clinics and inpatients as much as possible to strive for early detection and timely treatment to eliminate the source of infection.

Eliminate channels of transmission. Improve citizens' living welfare, encourage showering, abolish public baths, change sit-down toilets to squat toilets, strictly prohibit mold patients from entering swimming pools, and do not rent out public swimsuits and towels.

Common symptoms

1. Acute external otitis causes burning, pain, and aural sensation in the external auditory canal. In severe cases, it is accompanied by general fever, malaise, and swollen lymph nodes around the ear. Examination may reveal diffuse congestion and swelling of the external auditory canal. In severe cases, the external auditory canal may be narrowed and the skin may ulcerate. 2. Chronic otitis externa causes discomfort and itching in the external auditory canal, with a small amount of secretions. Patients with a long course of the disease may suffer hearing loss due to thickening of the skin in the external auditory canal. Some chronic otitis externa accompanied by severe itching should be distinguished from fungal otitis externa. Commonly used Chinese patent medicines : This disease belongs to the category of ear sores in traditional Chinese medicine, which is mostly caused by wind-heat invasion or excessive heat toxicity. The treatment should be to dispel wind and heat, detoxify and reduce swelling. 1. Oral medicines: Yinqiao Pills and Niuhuang Jiedu Pills, taken orally twice every 19 days. 2. External medication: ① Apply Coptis chinensis ointment and Zijin tablets to the external auditory canal. ② Grind equal amounts of Chinese medicine calamus and aconite into powder and mix with sesame oil and drip into the ear. ③If accompanied by swelling around the ears. It can be mixed with water for external application (i.e. grind Phellodendron amurense into powder, add equal amount of gypsum and cold boiled water to make a paste and apply it to the swollen area around the ear or apply a hot and damp towel to the area).
