What is digoxin?

Digoxin is a medium-acting cardiac glycoside drug that is in the form of milky white crystals or crystalline powder; it is odorless and tastes slightly bitter. During treatment, the effect on the heart is mainly manifested as a positive myotonic effect, slowing down the heartbeat and inhibiting cardiac transmission.

What is the application range of digoxin tablets?

Digoxin tablets are used for the following purposes: 1. Used for subacute and chronic heart failure such as hypertension, valvular heart disease, congenital heart disease, etc. It is especially suitable for heart failure with atrial fibrillation accompanied by rapid ventricular rate; it is less effective for heart failure caused by cor pulmonale, severe ischemic heart disease, active myocarditis and extracardiac factors such as severe anemia, hypothyroidism and vitamin B21 insufficiency; 2. It is used to control the ventricular rate and supraventricular tachycardia in patients with atrial fibrillation and atrial flutter accompanied by rapid ventricular rate.

Due to the positive inotropic effect of digoxin tablets, the preload of the weakened heart is reduced, the hemodynamic condition is improved, the reflex of clearing the central nervous system support is enhanced, and the sympathetic nervous system support is enhanced, thereby slowing down the heart rate. In addition, increasing the sensitivity of the sinoatrial node to sympathetic nerve impulses at doses can enhance its ability to slow heart rate.

Diclofenac sodium can reduce the renal elimination of digoxin tablets, increasing the half-life of this product and posing a risk of poisoning. Half-life testing and electrocardiogram examinations are required. When digoxin tablets are used together with heparin, the dosage of heparin needs to be adjusted because this product may partially offset the anticoagulant effect of heparin. Erythromycin can improve the digestion and absorption of digoxin tablets in the digestive tract by changing gastrointestinal flora.
