TCM treatment of bone tuberculosis

TCM treatment of bone tuberculosis

There are quite a variety of methods for treating bone tuberculosis in traditional Chinese medicine. You can choose according to your physical condition and the severity of the disease. Moreover, the treatment of this disease takes a relatively long time. There is basically no way to completely relieve it in a short period of time. Therefore, patients must be mentally prepared and have a blood test to prevent other diseases from occurring in their bodies.

1. Supportive treatment: rest, enhanced nutrition, etc. 2. Anti-tuberculosis drug treatment requires a relatively long period of time, and liver function should be rechecked to avoid liver damage. 3. Under the control of anti-tuberculosis drugs, eliminate the lesions promptly and thoroughly.

(1) The blood routine test shows normal hemoglobin or normal cells with mild anemia. Patients with multiple lesions or long-term secondary infections may have more severe anemia. The white blood cell count may be normal or increased, and the white blood cell count may be significantly increased in patients with mixed infection.

(2) The ESR rate accelerates during the active stage of the disease, but it may also be normal. When the disease is static or cured, the ESR rate will gradually return to normal, which is meaningful for follow-up. However, this test is non-specific, and other inflammations or malignant tumors may also accelerate the ESR rate. (3) Tuberculin test: This test is helpful for early diagnosis of children under 5 years old. If the tuberculin test changes from negative to positive, it means that the child has been recently infected with tuberculosis. False negatives may occur in the early stages of the disease, or in severe cases where the patient has no allergy and the test result turns from positive to negative. Therefore, a negative test cannot completely rule out active tuberculosis, including bone and joint tuberculosis.

(3) It takes 3 to 8 weeks to culture tuberculosis using modified Roche medium, and the positive rate is about 50%. Bactec grows quickly, averaging 9 days. The polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test results are available within 48 hours, but this method needs to be further improved.

(5) Pathological tissue examination: Pathological tissue specimens are collected, granulation tissue is taken from the synovium, and living tissue is taken from the cystic lesions shown on the X-ray film on the bone. The positive rate is high. Tuberculosis culture and pathological histological examination are carried out simultaneously and complement each other to improve the diagnosis rate. 2. Imaging examination: Conventional X-ray is still one of the preferred imaging diagnostic methods, but a small number of cases require CT, CTM, MRI or ECT examinations to improve the diagnostic level.

1) X-ray examination shows bone destruction, narrowing of the joint space, and swelling of the surrounding soft tissue. Except for combined infection and repair, bone sclerosis is rare. (2) CT examination showed multiple bone destruction, bone sclerosis around the edges, cold abscess formation, calcification at the edges of some abscesses, and peripheral enhancement after enhancement (called the "edge" sign); calcification and dead bone formed in the soft tissue. (3) MRI examination showed vertebral bone destruction and vertebral osteitis, destruction of the intervertebral disc, fissure-like enhancement, paravertebral and epidural abscesses. After enhancement, the abscess wall showed circular enhancement, and the posterior longitudinal ligament showed linear enhancement.
