When a cold becomes severe enough, phlegm will be produced around the trachea, and phlegm has a great impact on a person's respiratory function. Some patients with bronchitis and asthma have sputum in their trachea for a long time. Sputum is a symptom that has not attracted much attention, but it also has a high risk factor. For example, if sputum blocks the trachea, it will make it difficult for a person to breathe. So what are the first aid measures for sputum blocking the trachea? 1. If you are hospitalized, you can use nebulizer to dilute the sputum and facilitate its excretion, such as ambroxol. If you are at home, you must pay attention to patting the back in the prone position, from bottom to top, from outside to inside, and curl the five fingers of your palm into a bell shape. 2. It is recommended to take roxithromycin capsules or cephalosporin antibiotics and compound licorice solution for treatment. In addition, drink more boiled water and eat more fruits and vegetables. Can't eat spicy food. In addition, taking Huasu tablets or nebulizer inhalation treatment can be helpful. 3. Use a 100 ml syringe with a suction tube or urinary catheter to insert it into the trachea through the mouth or nose to suck out the sputum deep inside. In an emergency, you can use mouth-to-mouth suction to remove the sputum blocking the throat (it is best to put a layer of gauze between the mouth and the trachea). 4. Tap the back to expel phlegm: The first aider uses his hollow palms to tap the elderly person's back from bottom to top and from both sides to the middle (spine). Pay attention to the consistency of the elderly person's coughing movements for better results. 5. Wear gloves and use your hands or tools, such as wooden chopsticks or spoons, to pick out the phlegm from your mouth and throat. The main cause of sputum formation 1. Weak constitution and insufficient vital energy may cause water and moisture to accumulate and condense into phlegm due to spleen deficiency. 2. Weak spleen and stomach, lingering stagnation of water and dampness, which damage the spleen and stomach; or overeating of raw food, melons and fruits, which damages the middle yang; or drinking too much water due to fever, which causes the spleen to function poorly, etc., can all cause water and dampness to remain and gather into phlegm. In addition, eating too much fatty and sweet food can cause turbid air to accumulate in the stomach, generate dampness and heat, and turn into turbid phlegm. 3. If an exogenous infection is not treated properly, or if a person is weak and suffers from exogenous infections repeatedly, the lung qi will be damaged and unable to transport fluid to the four parts of the body and regulate the water channels to transport it to the bladder, causing the fluid to remain and turn into phlegm. The phlegm is stored in the lungs, and the lung qi is not well affected. The phlegm surges into the airways and causes coughing and excessive phlegm. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that the production of phlegm is mainly related to the lungs and spleen. The lungs control breathing and regulate the entry, exit, and rise and fall of Zong Qi (vital energy). If the lungs fail to descend, symptoms such as cough, asthma and uneven sleeping may occur. When wind or cold invades the lungs, the body fluid in the lungs condenses into phlegm. The spleen is responsible for transportation and transformation, that is, digesting and transporting nutrients to various organs. If dampness invades the human body, or if one is overthinking, overworked, or has an unhealthy diet, the spleen can be damaged and lose its function of transporting and transforming moisture, causing water to stagnate inside the body and condense into phlegm. 4. In fact, it is pus in the lungs, and the bacteria are hidden in the pus. When people breathe in unclean things, these things undergo special "processing" in the human respiratory tract and are finally expelled from the body through coughing. Therefore, even for healthy people, the sputum they spit out is not clean. People who cough and spit a lot are often those who suffer from various diseases, and there are more pathogens in their sputum. 5. Phlegm is a secretion of the human respiratory tract. It is pushed from the lungs to the upper respiratory tract through the movement of the bronchial epithelial cilia, and finally, coughed out of the trachea and discharged from the body through the normal cough reflex. Normal people have very little phlegm, just a small amount of mucus secreted to keep the respiratory tract moist. However, when people inhale irritating gases, dust, pathogenic bacteria, viruses and other harmful microorganisms, inflammation of the upper respiratory tract may occur, or lung disease may occur, respiratory tract secretions will increase, the amount of sputum will increase, and the nature of the sputum will change, from sticky sputum to yellow purulent sputum. For example: in bronchiectasis, when tuberculosis cavities form, or when there is purulent inflammation of the lungs, the amount of yellow purulent sputum will increase, and it may contain a large number of pathogenic bacteria. 6. It is normal for the respiratory tract to secrete a small amount of mucus, which can protect people. When people inhale relatively cold and dry air, the oxygen-containing air entering the lungs can be moistened and heated through the respiratory tract. The dust, other toxic particles and dust particles containing bacteria in the inhaled air can also be adsorbed on the moist bronchial wall. Through the movement of the cilia of the bronchial epithelium, they are pushed into the upper respiratory tract and expelled from the body through coughing, thus playing a role in protecting the lungs. |
