How to deal with bleeding after colonoscopy

Colonoscopy involves inserting a very thin tube into the anus and exploring the intestines, going back and forth continuously. During this process, there is no guarantee that some people's intestinal mucosa is more sensitive and bleeding may occur accidentally. This will recover on its own within 2 to 3 days after the examination. If bleeding and pain persist, you can consider taking these precautions to avoid complications.

Things to note after colonoscopy

First of all, we need to identify the intestinal lesions and check whether the operator performed any invasive examinations or treatments during the examination, such as biopsy or polyp removal, clips for hemostasis, etc. If the above examinations and treatments are performed, the patient should be instructed to fast or eat cold liquid food after the colonoscopy.

At the same time, according to the doctor's guidance, give drugs to promote mucosal repair, regulate intestinal flora, symptomatic fluid replacement treatment, etc. If no intestinal mucosal lesions are found after colonoscopy, or it is just chronic colitis, in this case you can take probiotics appropriately or observe.

1. The day before colonoscopy, you should eat light, soft and low-residue food, such as porridge, noodles, etc. Avoid vegetables, fruits, eggs, meat, etc.

2. Take a laxative (such as 100 ml of 50% magnesium sulfate mixed with 100 ml of water) at 8:00 pm the night before the examination, and then drink plenty of water (usually 1 thermos bottle is needed, which is equivalent to 2000 ml).

3. Do not eat or drink water from the morning of the examination until the examination is completed.
