Causes of neurodermatitis

Causes of neurodermatitis

Now is the peak season for neurodermatitis. Neurodermatitis can make a person's skin itchy and even cause pain. It can be said that the onset of neurodermatitis will seriously affect the patient's physical and mental health. Therefore, we must actively prevent this neurodermatitis in daily life. To prevent neurodermatitis, we must find out its cause so that we can prevent it symptomatically.

So what are the factors that cause neurodermatitis? What bad habits in life can cause the onset of neurodermatitis? What are the classifications of neurodermatitis? Let's take a brief look at it together.

The main causes of neurodermatitis are as follows:

1. Mental factors: It is currently believed that this is the main cause of the disease. Emotional fluctuations, excessive mental tension, anxiety, sudden changes in living environment, etc. can aggravate the disease and cause it to recur.

2. Gastrointestinal dysfunction, endocrine system dysfunction, and sensitization caused by chronic lesions in the body may also be pathogenic factors.

3. Local irritation: Friction caused by a hard collar, chemical stimulation, insect bites, sunlight exposure, scratching, etc. can all induce the occurrence of this disease.

Disease classification

1. Localized neurodermatitis: More than 90% of cases occur on the neck, followed by the elbows, sacrum, eyelids, popliteal fossa, etc. First, local itching is felt, followed by the appearance of clusters of millet- to rice-sized, normal skin-colored or light brown, light red, polygonal flat papules, slightly shiny, covered with a small amount of chaff-like scales, and then the papules merge into pieces. Due to the itching, the skin is often scratched and stimulated to gradually thicken, forming lichenification with clear boundaries. Scratches and blood scabs are common around the affected skin lesions.

2. Diffuse neurodermatitis: The skin lesions are similar to those of localized neurodermatitis, but are widely distributed, involving the head, limbs, trunk, etc., with chronic severe itching, especially at night, affecting sleep. The course of the disease is chronic and prone to recurrence. Frequent scratching may lead to eczematous changes or secondary infection, resulting in folliculitis, furunculosis, etc.

The above are some common factors that cause neurodermatitis. Finally, I would like to remind you that mental factors are also an important reason for the high incidence of neurodermatitis. Therefore, you must learn to adjust your mentality in daily life, which will be more beneficial to your physical and mental health.
