How long is the dangerous period after caesarean section

A normal female body can be divided into a dangerous period and a safe period within a month. The dangerous period refers to the ovulation period. Having sex at this time will greatly increase the chances of pregnancy. Because the female body does not secrete eggs during pregnancy, there is no ovulation period. After a caesarean section, the woman's body gradually recovers, and the corresponding ovulation period also recovers. So how long is the dangerous period after a caesarean section?

How long does it take to restore ovulation after cesarean section

Due to endocrine changes after childbirth, the ovaries of most women cannot resume function immediately, and thus a menopause stage occurs after childbirth. Some people believe that women who breastfeed after childbirth do not ovulate and do not have menstruation, which is not entirely correct. The average time that women do not ovulate after giving birth is 70 days, and about 40% of women ovulate for the first time before their menstruation resumes.

For new mothers who breastfeed their babies, ovulation and menstruation will resume later, and some may not have their period until a year later. For most people, their first menstrual period is heavier than usual, but their second period becomes normal, so no treatment is needed.

When menstruation comes, the amount of milk a new mother produces generally decreases, and the quality of the protein and fat contained in the breast milk also changes slightly, with the protein content being higher and the fat content being lower. This milk can sometimes cause indigestion symptoms in babies, but this is a temporary phenomenon and will return to normal after the menstrual period. Therefore, mothers do not need to stop breastfeeding whether during or after menstruation.

From a medical point of view, based on the tissue morphology of the endometrium, the ovaries may be able to ovulate as early as 33-42 days after delivery. In addition, the presence of a corpus luteum after ovulation can also be observed 6 weeks after delivery. Therefore, if the mother does not breastfeed, menstruation usually comes within 6 to 8 weeks after delivery. Research data show that 40% of non-breastfeeding mothers resume ovulation 6 weeks after delivery; by 8-12 weeks after delivery, only about 35% of mothers have not resumed ovulation and menstruation. About 25% of breastfeeding mothers will resume ovulation and menstruation 12 weeks after delivery, and most breastfeeding mothers usually take until 18 weeks to fully resume ovulation function. However, it is sometimes difficult to clinically determine the exact time of the first menstrual period after delivery, and a small number of women will begin to have intermittent bleeding of small to moderate amounts immediately after delivery.

How long after a caesarean section can you get pregnant again

If your first child was delivered by caesarean section and you still want to have another baby, the safest time is to have the second baby two years later. Some say it will be one year later, because everyone's physique and recovery speed are different.

If you become pregnant again after a caesarean section, you should be hospitalized in advance to prepare for delivery. Because the uterus is close to delivery, the wound is in danger of rupture. To prevent uterine rupture or fetal death, you should be hospitalized two weeks in advance to prepare for delivery so that problems can be discovered and dealt with in a timely manner.

It is better to have a caesarean section for the second delivery. 80% of women who get pregnant again after the first caesarean section will have a caesarean section for the second delivery, which is safer than vaginal delivery. The timing of the second cesarean section should be chosen appropriately. If it is too early, the fetus is unlikely to survive; if it is too late, it may easily cause uterine rupture or stillbirth. As long as the fetus is mature, surgery can be performed without having to wait until delivery.
