What is mold?

There are many common types of diseases in life, and we need good methods to treat them. However, it should be noted that different methods are used to treat different diseases. Therefore, we cannot start treating the disease blindly, as this will not help improve the patient's disease. So what is mold? Many people are not very clear about the issue of mold.

Many people don’t know much about what mold is, and when they encounter such a problem, they don’t know how to solve it. When such a situation occurs, there are some solutions, so there is no need to worry too much.

What is mold?

Mold is a general term for fungi that form branching hyphae. It is not a taxonomic term, but belongs to the various subphyla of the phylum Fungi. The basic unit that makes up the fungus is called hyphae, which is long and tubular, 2 to 10 microns wide, and can continue to grow and branch from the front end. Without or with septa, with 1 to more nuclei. The cell wall is divided into three layers: the outer layer is amorphous β-glucan (87nm); the middle layer is glycoprotein, and the protein network is filled with glucan (49nm); the inner layer is chitin microfibrils interspersed with amorphous proteins (20nm).

When growing on a solid substrate, some hyphae penetrate deep into the substrate to absorb nutrients, which are called matrix hyphae or nutritional hyphae; those extending into the air are called aerial hyphae, which can further develop into reproductive hyphae and produce spores. A large number of hyphae interwoven into a villi, floccules or net-like shape is called mycelium. The mycelium is often white, brown, gray, or brightly colored (colonies with white hairy shapes are Mucor, green are Penicillium, and yellow are Aspergillus flavus), and some can produce pigments to color the substrate. Molds reproduce rapidly, often causing large amounts of food and utensils to rot and spoil, but many beneficial species have been widely used. They are the earliest type of microorganisms used and recognized in human practical activities.

Through the above introduction, we have a good understanding of what mold is. When such a situation occurs, it is necessary to make timely improvements, otherwise it will cause serious damage to our health. At the same time, if you don’t know how to solve such a problem, you can also consult in detail.
