How to treat tinea versicolor

Summer is the peak season for skin diseases, especially for people who sweat a lot, they are prone to tinea versicolor, which is medically known as tinea versicolor. Tinea versicolor is actually a superficial skin disease, but it spreads very quickly. If it is not treated in time, it will quickly spread throughout the body, causing systemic disease and seriously affecting people's daily lives.

The reason for tinea versicolor is largely related to people's failure to pay attention to preventing ultraviolet rays. It is also contagious to a certain extent. Generally, bedding, towels and other items used by patients will carry tinea versicolor, and other people may be infected after contact.

How to treat tinea versicolor: The initial lesions of tinea versicolor are round, dot-like macules surrounding the pores, which gradually increase to the size of a nail cover with clear edges. Adjacent lesions may merge into large irregular patches, and new macules may appear around them. The causative agent of this disease is a lipophilic yeast called Pityrosporum ovale or Pityrosporum spp. This fungus is a saprophytic fungus of normal skin. Only under certain special circumstances such as high temperature and climax, local fat and sweating, poor sanitary conditions, etc., the parasitic density of Pityrosporum increases and the saprophytic yeast transforms into a hyphae type to cause disease. This bacterium only invades the superficial layer of the stratum corneum without causing an inflammatory reaction in the dermis.

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that this is caused by rheumatism invading the skin and stagnation of qi and blood. The occurrence of this disease is due to the invasion of body heat, wind evil and moisture into the pores, as well as the stagnation of qi and blood and the blockage of the pores. Modern medicine mainly uses some hormone ointments for external treatment or flushing with solutions. Traditional Chinese medicine bath is very effective in preventing tinea versicolor. Commonly used ones are mugwort bath, mint bath, chrysanthemum bath, Artemisia annua bath, vinegar bath, salt water bath, etc. The method is very simple, which is to use the above-mentioned Chinese medicine to boil water for bathing, once a week.

Systemic treatment For patients with severe and long-term uncured conditions, systemic medication may be considered. It is currently believed that tinea versicolor is not contagious through contact. People who carry the bacteria on their skin may not necessarily develop the disease, but susceptible people may develop the disease as long as the triggering factors exist.

Now that you know how to treat pityriasis versicolor, if you find that you have symptoms similar to pityriasis versicolor, please go to a regular hospital for treatment in time. Family members should also pay attention to protecting themselves and not use common items with patients to prevent infection. Another scary feature of pityriasis versicolor is that it may not heal for many years, so it is recommended that all patients actively seek treatment.
