Treatment of conjunctivitis

Treatment of conjunctivitis

Eyes are an important part of our body. They play a key role in helping us see the world clearly. However, eyes can also be affected by some diseases. Conjunctivitis is a common eye disease. Although conjunctivitis does not have a great impact on the patient's vision, it can have a great impact if it is not treated in time. So what are the treatments for conjunctivitis?

In fact, many people don’t know much about conjunctivitis, but when it comes to pink eye, everyone has some understanding. In fact, pink eye is a type of conjunctivitis. In order to enable patients with conjunctivitis to treat conjunctivitis as soon as possible, our hospital’s ophthalmologists will now introduce to you the specific methods of treating conjunctivitis.

How to treat conjunctivitis:

1. People with conjunctivitis should wear swimming goggles when swimming.

2. Patients with conjunctivitis can apply warm towels to their eyes.

3. Do not share towels or handkerchiefs with anyone to avoid mutual infection.

4. Keep it clean and wipe the secretions with a cotton ball dipped in clean water to speed up recovery.

5. You can make a solution of baby shampoo and warm water in a ratio of 1:10, use a cotton ball to wet it and wipe your eyebrows to soften and clean your eyelids and eyelashes.

6. Bacterial conjunctivitis will worsen when the eyes are closed, so it is best to apply some antibiotic ointment when sleeping at night to prevent excessive secretions.

7. If your eyes itch like mosquito bites and there are threads of pus in your eyes, it may be allergic conjunctivitis. It is best to use antihistamines and apply cold compresses.

8. Keep your eyes clean: Since there is a lot of eye secretions when suffering from acute conjunctivitis, you cannot rely solely on medication for treatment. Careful eye care and keeping the eyes clean are important. Wash the eyes or bathe them with normal saline or 3% boric acid solution, and then drop eye drops to fully exert their effect.

9. Apply cold compress in the early stage and use steroid eye drops with caution: When acute conjunctivitis first occurs, cold compress should be applied to the eyes to help reduce swelling and redness. On the contrary, hot compresses will cause the eyeball to become bloodshot, and the inflammation may spread and cause complications. When the inflammation is not under control, avoid using hormonal eye drops, and eye drops are contraindicated for viral conjunctivitis. Therefore, the use of eye drops should be based on the advice of an ophthalmologist and should not be used on your own.

10. Avoid light and heat, and use eyes less: Patients with severe acute conjunctivitis are afraid of light and have tears. To reduce discomfort, they should avoid the stimulation of light and heat. Don't force yourself to read or watch TV. Wear sunglasses when you go out to avoid stimulation from the sun, wind, dust, etc. In order to allow eye secretions to drain smoothly, lower the local temperature and prevent the reproduction and growth of bacteria, the eyes should not be bandaged or covered with eye patches.

After reading the introduction in this article, everyone should have some understanding of the treatment of conjunctivitis. We must not ignore eye diseases such as conjunctivitis. If complications occur without timely treatment, it will still affect our vision. Therefore, timely treatment is very important for patients with conjunctivitis.
