H9N7 bird flu symptoms

H9N7 bird flu symptoms

In human history, avian influenza is a disease that is relatively easy to be infected. In the past, due to the underdeveloped medical level, the mortality rate of people suffering from avian influenza was basically 100%. Although the cure rate for avian influenza patients is not 100% now, it can help patients alleviate their condition to a great extent, and a large number of them can recover completely.

H9N7 avian influenza is mainly transmitted through contact. Generally, patients will be infected quickly after coming into contact with the pathogen. During the incubation period of the disease, the symptoms are generally not obvious, similar to a cold.

The incubation period for human infection with H9N7 avian influenza is generally less than 7 days. Patients generally present with flu-like symptoms, such as fever, cough, and little sputum, which may be accompanied by headache, muscle aches, and general discomfort. The condition of critically ill patients progresses rapidly, manifesting as severe pneumonia, with body temperature mostly remaining above 39°C, dyspnea, and coughing up blood and sputum; it can rapidly progress to acute respiratory distress syndrome, mediastinal emphysema, sepsis, shock, impaired consciousness, and acute kidney injury.

The patients mainly suffer from fever, with the body temperature mostly remaining above 39°C. The fever lasts for 1 to 7 days, usually 3 to 4 days, and may be accompanied by runny nose, nasal congestion, cough, sore throat, headache and general discomfort. Some patients may experience gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and loose watery stools. The condition of severe patients progresses rapidly, and they may develop various complications such as pneumonia, acute respiratory distress syndrome, pulmonary hemorrhage, pancytopenia, renal failure, sepsis, pleural effusion, shock and Reye syndrome. Severely ill patients may have signs of pulmonary consolidation.

After being infected with the H9N7 avian influenza, patients must go to a regular hospital for treatment in a timely manner, and be careful not to come into contact with healthy people, otherwise it will be easy for them to be infected with the H9N7 avian influenza. Once patients find themselves having cold symptoms such as diarrhea, general discomfort, runny nose, etc., they should go to the hospital for treatment in time.
