Acupuncture points for lowering blood pressure

Our body's blood pressure fluctuates within a certain range. If our body's blood pressure is higher than this range, we call it hypertension. Hypertension is a very scary disease because it can lead to terrible complications such as stroke, arteriosclerosis and heart disease. So if we want to have a healthy body, we must lower our blood pressure.

Many patients with hypertension need to take medication every day to lower their blood pressure. Our traditional Chinese medicine has a broad spirit, and acupoint massage is even more powerful, so we can actually use the method of acupoint massage to achieve the effect of lowering blood pressure.

From ancient times to the present, there are three acupoints that have been proven to have good blood pressure lowering effects regardless of the type of hypertension. These are Taichong, Taixi and Quchi.

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that high blood pressure is nothing more than hyperactivity of liver yang or deficiency of liver and kidney yin, both of which are problems of the liver and kidneys. In the five elements, the liver belongs to wood, the kidneys belong to water, and water produces wood. The characteristic of the liver is upward. If you want to prevent it from rising too much, you need water to nourish it. You can imagine a tree in real life. If it does not have enough water to nourish it, it will wither. When the branches and trunks become dry, they will easily crack. The same is true for our bodies. The liver stores blood, and the liver is ascending in nature. Without the nourishment of kidney water, it will ascend too much, the pressure on the blood vessels will increase, and the blood pressure will rise. If the kidney water is sufficient, it can overcome the hardness with softness and neutralize the "rigidity" of the liver, and the blood vessels will become relatively flexible. When the blood vessels are more elastic, the chance of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases can be greatly reduced.

The Taichong point is located between the big toe and the second toe next to it, along the dorsum of the foot. The slightly raised area where the two bones meet is the Taichong point. Use your fingertips to press and you will feel the pulsation. Taichong point can soothe the liver and regulate qi, calm the liver and reduce adverse effects, and prevent liver qi from rising excessively. It is the most responsible and hardworking point on the liver meridian.

Taixi point on the kidney meridian is located on the inner side of the foot, behind the medial malleolus, in the depression between the medial malleolus and the Achilles tendon. Taixi point is an important acupoint for replenishing kidney yin. To replenish kidney yin is like watering the "tree"; the Quchi point on the large intestine meridian is located in the depression on the outer side of the elbow transverse line when the elbow is bent at a right angle.

Quchi point has the effects of dispersing wind and unblocking meridians, clearing away heat and removing fire. This point is used to extinguish fire and has the best blood pressure lowering effect. Insist on massaging the Taichong, Taixi and Quchi points on both sides every day, massaging each point for 3-5 minutes. Generally, after two months of persistence, blood pressure will show good results.

While insisting on massaging the three acupoints, you must replenish qi and blood in your diet, give up all cold foods, and eat more foods that nourish the kidneys and liver, such as animal kidneys, livers, chestnuts, walnuts, red dates, longans, etc. The diet should be light and low in salt. It is advisable to eat vegetarian food, and avoid spicy, greasy, high-fat foods such as fatty meat. And pay attention to a reasonable diet. For example, the traditional folk foods such as red dates rice porridge and shredded pork with celery are all nutritiously matched.

Also, keep an open mind, be optimistic, and avoid getting angry. This will allow the liver qi to flow smoothly, the liver meridian to be unobstructed, and blood vessels to be less likely to get stuck.

Above we introduced what hypertension is. Hypertension can easily cause some terrible complications, so we must actively treat hypertension. We can use many methods to lower blood pressure. The above article introduced three acupoints: Taichong, Taixi and Quchi. Regularly massaging these three acupoints can help lower our blood pressure.
