What to do if baby's finger has thorns

What to do if baby's finger has thorns

The baby's skin is very tender and smooth, but if the baby gets prickles on his fingers, not only will he feel pain and make a fuss, but it will also make us feel distressed. So what is the reason for prickles on the baby's fingers? Is it a disease? How can we prevent and control it?

A baby's hands are always tender, so how could they suddenly grow hangnails? There are three possible reasons:

1. Playful and active. The little ones are becoming more and more lively and active. They often grab toys with their hands, chew their nails, or rub their hands against other objects too much, causing hangnails to grow on their delicate skin.

2. Dry skin. Improper care will cause the baby's hands to have dry skin, and the skin under the nails will not be moisturized by oil, making it easy for hangnails to grow.

3. Nutritional deficiency. If your baby's daily diet lacks vitamin C or other trace elements, it may also show up through the skin.

1. Nail care. Cut your baby's nails regularly to keep them clean, and educate your baby to let him know that biting nails is wrong.

2. Nutritional supplements. Let your baby drink more water and eat more fruits, and apply non-irritating, oil-containing skin cream to his hands every day, such as lanolin, vitamin E cream, etc.; if the baby is lacking in vitamins or trace elements, it is recommended that parents take the baby to the dermatology department of the hospital for examination for correct treatment.

TIP: Olive oil can prevent the formation of hangnails. Wash your baby's hands, apply olive oil on them and massage them. This can nourish the skin and prevent the formation of hangnails.

3. Prune carefully. Once your baby grows a hangnail, do not pull it out forcefully. First, soak the hand with the hangnail in warm water. After the nail and surrounding skin become soft, cut it off with small scissors. Then massage the area around the nail and knuckles with nourishing oil containing vitamin E. After removing the hangnails, you can also soak your baby's hands in warm water with fruit juice (such as lemon, apple, grapefruit) for 10-15 minutes to make your baby's skin more tender!

This is related to vitamin deficiency and lack of vegetables. If the amount is too high, in addition to vitamin supplements, it is recommended to take the baby to a dermatologist for examination, such as testing for trace elements. Germ rice, brown rice, whole grain rice, whole wheat bread, yeast, dark green vegetables, low-fat milk, etc. are good B vitamin foods. Babies should eat more of these foods.

Once a "flesh thorn" appears, do not tear it off with your hands. The more you tear it, the bigger and deeper it will get, causing further damage to the root of the thorn and the dermis of the skin. It will not only cause pain and bleeding, but also create favorable conditions for bacterial invasion, eventually leading to paronychia. You can use 75% alcohol to wipe and disinfect the outside of the long "flesh thorn" and the blade of nail clippers or small scissors, then cut it off along the root of the "flesh thorn" and apply some red medicine. When you find inflammatory reactions such as redness, swelling, heat and pain around the nail groove, you should go to the hospital for diagnosis and treatment in time, take sufficient antibiotics orally or inject them intramuscularly, and soak the affected finger in 35% iodine or 75% alcohol, 3 to 4 times a day, each time for 10-15 minutes, so that the inflammation will subside as soon as possible.

The baby cannot speak, so we have to pay close attention to him. The thorns on his hands are very painful, so we have to find a solution in time and ask the doctor. He should take vitamin supplements, drink more water, and apply some lubricating oil, but not oil that may have an impact on the child's health, because he likes to eat his fingers. Don't let him get other diseases after the thorns on his fingers are cured. Also pay attention to timely pruning. I believe that as long as we pay more attention to the baby, he will grow up healthily!
