What is the reason for the black tongue? Look through the tongue to see the hidden diseases of the body

As we all know, our tongue has many uses. It can help us chew food and feel the deliciousness of food. So what causes the tongue to turn black? , what are the symptoms of a black tongue?

What causes a black tongue?

Blackness is usually a sign of excessive heat, excessive cold, or blood stasis.

If the tongue is black and dry, it means that there is excessive heat in some internal organs.

If the tongue is black and moist, it indicates that it is a sign of excessive cold.

If the tongue is black and there is tingling in certain parts of the body, it means that blood stasis is stagnant.

Other manifestations of the tongue

1. Mirror tongue: The tongue has no coating and is as smooth as a mirror. In mild cases, it indicates malnutrition, or lack of iron or vitamin B2 in the body; in severe cases, it means lack of body fluid and serious illness. If the patient has been ill for a long time and has a mirror-like tongue with crimson color, sepsis should also be prevented. If an elderly person's tongue is as smooth as a mirror and the two veins at the bottom of the tongue are thickened and elongated, it indicates cor pulmonale.

Observing tongue patterns is an important part of TCM diagnosis and treatment. It can not only help us understand the yin and yang, exterior and interior, cold and heat, deficiency and excess of the disease, but also predict the development trend of the disease and the prognosis, providing an important basis for clinical formulation of prescriptions.

2. Pale tongue: The color of pale tongue is more white than red. According to the different proportions of red and white, it can be divided into two categories: one type is slightly lighter than the tongue of a normal person, but red can still be seen; the other type is a dry and white tongue with no blood, and even the lips and gums are pale and dull. The pale white tongue is generally larger than normal, with a moist and saliva-filled surface, as if it has excess moisture soaked into it, making it appear plump and tender. At the edge of the tongue, there are obvious tooth marks due to the pressure from the teeth, which surround the sides of the tongue like lotus leaves. Pale tongue is an important sign of deficiency and cold syndromes.
