What are the manifestations of spleen deficiency on the face? What are the manifestations of different symptoms on the face?

The saying "Appearance is determined by the mind" has some truth to it. When our body is sick, it will show up in different corresponding areas of the face. So what are the manifestations of spleen deficiency on the face? What different diseases do different facial expressions represent?

1. Dark nose and yellow face

Disharmony between the spleen and stomach. If a person's complexion is dull and yellow, it may be a symptom of spleen deficiency. The spleen and stomach are the sources of nutrition. If the spleen and stomach are weak, there will not be enough nutrition to nourish the face, resulting in yellow face. Symptoms of a weak spleen and stomach include loss of appetite, abdominal bloating after meals, and long-term diarrhea or loose stools. If you do not pay attention, it may develop into emaciation or puffiness, and even induce some skin diseases such as jaundice. Acne, chloasma, eczema, skin itching, etc. may also be caused by disharmony between the spleen and stomach. Liver diseases can also cause a yellow complexion, such as acute or chronic hepatitis.

In addition to the complexion, poor spleen and stomach function will also be reflected in the nose, lips and tongue. Pale nose wings are a sign of weak stomach qi and decreased digestive function; pale red and dry nose wings are a sign of insufficient stomach fluid; red nose wings are a sign of hyperactivity of stomach fire; the yellow and white hairless area around the lips is called the four whites of the lips. If the four whites of the lips are not obvious or are particularly dry and yellow, it means that the spleen and stomach function is definitely not good; dark and wrinkled lips mean weakened spleen and stomach function; cracked corners of the mouth indicate spleen and stomach fatigue causing internal heat, so you should chew slowly when eating to reduce the digestive pressure on the spleen and stomach; too thick tongue coating is a sign of gastrointestinal dysfunction or overeating.

2. Bluish face and yellow whites of eyes

Poor liver. When we describe someone who is angry, we often use words like "veins popping out" and "face turning green". The liver can reflect a person's emotions, so people with a bluish complexion generally have a bad temper and should be careful to prevent liver disease. A bad liver condition will be reflected in the eyes, often showing up as dull eyes or yellowing of the whites of the eyes. In addition, if the highest point of the bridge of the nose is red, it may be due to excessive liver fire, which manifests as irritability, red eyes, increased menstruation, etc.; if it is bluish-black, it may be a serious disease such as cirrhosis or liver cancer. It is very important to nourish the liver. You should pay attention to regulating your emotions and avoiding depression, otherwise it is easy to induce disease.

3. Dark forehead and red whites of eyes

Bad lungs. To see whether the lungs are in good condition, you can look between the eyebrows, also known as the Yingtang. It is best if the forehead is white with a hint of red, but if it is especially red, it means that the lungs are hot or the lung fire is strong; if it is white, it is a sign of blood deficiency or qi deficiency; if it is blue, it is a sign of blood stasis; the most taboo for the forehead is if it is black, which means that you may have a serious illness.

In addition, the whites of the eyes belong to the lungs. If the entire eye is abnormal, the first thing to do is to treat the liver. However, if there is a problem only in the whites of the eyes, the lungs must be treated. For example, if the whites of the eyes are red, the lung heat must be cleared. The condition of the nose can also indicate problems with the lungs. Dry nostrils and hot breath are often caused by lung heat, while nasal congestion is usually caused by the lungs being affected by wind and cold.

4. Rash on the philtrum

Reproductive system diseases. Looking at the philtrum can determine the condition of a person's reproductive system. A wide, deep, straight philtrum with a bright, moist, and rosy complexion indicates abundant kidney essence and normal development of reproductive organs. On the contrary, if the philtrum is narrow and short with a dry, dull color, it indicates deficiency of kidney essence and insufficient essence. A shiny red-yellow philtrum or flushing near the lips is a manifestation of damp-heat in the bladder, with common symptoms such as frequent urination, urgency, and burning pain in the urethra. Women may have abnormal leucorrhea. A bright red philtrum may be caused by excessive fire or the appearance of carbuncle. A blue philtrum is a symptom of cold. Men will have testicular pain while women will have dysmenorrhea. A rash on the philtrum indicates cervical erosion and adnexitis in women while men may have prostatitis.

5. Dull cheeks and dark circles

Poor kidney function. The kidneys are located in the waist, one on the left and one on the right. The corresponding positions of the kidneys on the face are the two cheeks. If gray or dark brown appears on the inner sides of the cheeks, it is a sign of weakened kidney detoxification function; if the entire complexion is gray or black, it may be a sign of chronic kidney disease, and may be accompanied by weakness in the waist and knees, abnormal urination, and sexual dysfunction; common dark circles under the eyes also belong to a dark complexion, which may be caused by abnormal water metabolism due to kidney deficiency. Dark circles accompanied by abnormal physical symptoms may be a sign of disease and should be taken seriously. In addition, the pupil is controlled by the kidney. If there are signs of pupil disease, the kidney should be treated. For example, if there is dark eyelids, more white and less black in the eyes, it may be kidney deficiency.
