Is Dendrobium candidum cold in nature?

Is Dendrobium candidum cold in nature?

Dendrobium candidum is also a kind of traditional Chinese medicinal material, but this kind of traditional Chinese medicinal material needs to be exposed to the sun for a period of time before it can be used. It is cold in nature, but slightly cold. Therefore, even patients with weak gastrointestinal tract do not need to worry too much when taking this medicine. As long as it is taken in small amounts, it will not cause any effect on the gastrointestinal tract, and it can also have a good lung-moisturizing effect.

Nature, flavor and effects: sweet, slightly cold.

It produces fluid and nourishes the stomach; nourishes yin and clears away heat; moistens the lungs and benefits the kidneys; improves eyesight and strengthens the waist.

Pharmacological Action

Body-stimulating effect: Dendrobium officinale has a body-stimulating effect, which mainly promotes glandular secretion and organ movement.

Hypoglycemic effect: Dendrobium candidum can reduce the blood sugar level of diabetes induced by streptozotocin.

Enhance the body's immunity: Dendrobium officinale granules (TPSH) can promote the phagocytic function of macrophages in tumor-bearing animals, enhance the proliferation and differentiation of T lymphocytes and the activity of NK cells, and can significantly increase the serum hemolysin value of tumor-bearing animals, indicating that TPSH has a certain effect on improving nonspecific immune function, specific cellular immunity and humoral immune function.

The suitable growth temperature of Dendrobium officinale is 15~28℃. Therefore, in order to create a temperature environment suitable for its growth, when the temperature is high in summer, ventilation and heat dissipation must be strengthened in the greenhouse, and the temperature in the greenhouse should be controlled within an appropriate range through shade sheds, spray cooling, ventilation cooling, etc.; when the temperature is low in winter, the greenhouse should be sealed well, and if necessary, various heating methods can be used to increase the temperature in the facility to prevent frostbite on the plants.

Dendrobium officinale prefers shade, so shading measures should be adopted to reduce light. During the growth period, the shade degree of Dendrobium officinale should be about 60%. When the seedlings are just planted, the greenhouse must be covered with a shade net with a shade degree of more than 70% to prevent strong sunlight from causing the seedlings to wilt and affect the survival rate. In summer and autumn when the temperature is high and the light intensity is high, the shade net of the greenhouse must be covered well and securely, because the high-intensity light can easily cause the plants to cap out prematurely, causing them to not grow tall, thus affecting yield. In winter, the shade shed should be opened appropriately to facilitate light transmission and extend the growing period. For tree-attached cultivation (attached to the main plant), the dense branches of the attached plant should be appropriately pruned off in winter and spring every year.

(2) Moisture and humidity management

Water management is one of the key links in the cultivation process of Dendrobium officinale. Newly transplanted Dendrobium seedlings are most sensitive to water. At this time, the moisture content of the substrate should generally be controlled at 60%~70%. During specific operation, it is best to grab the substrate with your hand and feel it is moist but not dripping. Within 7 days after transplanting (the seedlings have not yet grown new roots), the air humidity should be maintained at around 90%. After 7 days, the plants begin to grow new roots and the air humidity should be maintained at 70%~80%.
