What are the symptoms of herpetic pharyngitis and how is it treated?

Herpetic pharyngitis is common in early childhood. It is much more serious than ordinary pharyngitis and is contagious. It often occurs in places where there are many children, such as kindergartens and amusement parks, and is transmitted through droplets. Once these symptoms appear, the person should be isolated and treated actively in a timely manner. What are the symptoms of herpetic pharyngitis and how is it treated?

When herpetic pharyngitis occurs, the white blood cell count in the blood of most children does not increase or may decrease (the white blood cell count often increases during bacterial infection and is normal or decreases during viral infection). The clinical symptoms of herpetic pharyngitis include fever, sore throat, and the appearance of small blisters in the mouth, on the soft palate, tonsils, and uvula. In the early stage of herpes, there are small gray-white papules with red halos around them. Later, they turn into shiny blisters and then turn into small ulcers after breaking. In most cases, papules, herpes and ulcers coexist. Children often drool and refuse to eat because of sore throat. Because infants and young children cannot complain about their sore throat, they cry day and night and cannot sleep. The general course of the disease is about 7 days. The sick child will suddenly vomit, have a high temperature of around 39°C, and not want to eat.

When children suffer from herpetic pharyngitis, they should drink more water to help reduce their fever. Eat nutritious and easily digestible liquid or semi-liquid foods, such as milk, rice porridge, and fruit juice. Children should eat small amounts and frequently, and should not be given spicy, sweet or fried foods.

General treatment: rest in bed, drink plenty of water, eat soft food, abstain from smoking and drinking, avoid spicy and overly greasy food, and keep bowel movements open. The above methods are very important for the early recovery of acute pharyngitis, but they are often ignored by patients and parents, resulting in prolonged illness or complications of other diseases. If sore throat affects the patient's ability to eat, intravenous fluids and nutritional supplements should be given. For those with severe sore throat or high body temperature, APC can be taken orally, 0.5 grams each time, or intramuscular injection of Antongding, Chaihu injection, etc.

If you want to cure your baby's herpetic pharyngitis, you must pay special attention to the use of medication and use those with fewer side effects to avoid affecting the child's growth and development. In addition, the care precautions for herpetic pharyngitis introduced in the article should be kept in mind, especially those related to diet. Children are prone to coughing, and if the food is difficult to digest, they are prone to vomiting.
