What are the clinical symptoms of hemorrhoids?

The symptoms of hemorrhoids are mainly manifested in some abnormal manifestations in the anus, so the symptoms of hemorrhoids are relatively easy to find and can be discovered in the early stages. As long as the treatment is timely, it is possible to be completely cured. So what are the manifestations of hemorrhoids?

1. Anal itching

It is mostly due to irritation of the anus and surrounding skin, causing itching and discomfort, which is one of the common symptoms of hemorrhoids.

2. Anorectal pain

Because the anus is rich in nerves and sensitive, it is easy to experience mild or severe pain after stimulation, such as tingling, distension, burning pain, and heaviness, which can occur during or after defecation.

3. Anorectal distension

It may be a symptom of painful external hemorrhoids. Internal hemorrhoids are not painful when there is no inflammation. The pain of falling often occurs in internal hemorrhoid infection, incarceration and strangulation necrosis, and often causes severe pain of falling. In mild cases, only local distension and heaviness are seen; in severe cases, there is tenesmus and heaviness in the abdomen, with frequent visits to the toilet, and the heaviness is still there after defecation, which is very painful.

4. Anal tumor prolapse

The symptoms of middle and late stage internal hemorrhoids are mainly due to the enlargement of internal hemorrhoid nodules, which separate the mucosa and submucosal layer from the anal layer. During defecation, the internal hemorrhoids prolapse through the anus. In mild cases, they only prolapse outside the anus during defecation. In severe cases, they may prolapse when the abdominal pressure increases, such as by coughing, squatting, exerting force, etc.

5. Blood in the stool

Symptoms of early internal hemorrhoids include spurting bleeding, spotting, blood on toilet paper, etc. The blood is bright red and may occur before or after defecation, or it may be simple blood in the stool, or it may be mixed with feces.

6. Discharge from the anus

It can overflow from the fistula, be discharged from the anus, or overflow from the skin around the anus.
