Skin scratching

Skin scratching

Skin scratching, also known as artificial urticaria, is usually an allergic reaction of the skin blood vessels. Most of the time, some red scratches will appear after scratching with the hands, and may also be accompanied by symptoms of skin itching.

Patients with skin excoriation may have special proteins in their serum, usually immunoglobulin IgE. When such proteins combine with allergens, the body will produce a series of reactions, which may eventually cause the mast cells around the skin blood vessels to release a large amount of histamine, leading to skin vasodilation and serum leakage out of the blood vessels, resulting in symptoms of itching and some red scratches on the skin. If the skin excoriation is more serious, it may also cause the lips to swell after being bitten by teeth. Skin scratch tests usually show a positive result.

If you suffer from skin scratching, try to avoid scratching with your hands. Also pay attention to hydrating and moisturizing the skin to avoid excessive dryness. Wear loose and comfortable clothing to reduce friction on the skin. When taking a bath, avoid water temperatures that are too high and use a mild, non-irritating shower gel. When going out, you also need to take sun protection measures, such as using a parasol or a sun hat, wearing sun-protective clothing, etc., try to avoid exposure to the sun. Also pay attention to a light diet and try to avoid eating some irritating foods, such as fish, shrimp, crabs, etc., to reduce the chance of allergic attacks.
