What to do if wisdom teeth gums are swollen and painful

Although wisdom teeth are not a disease, many people suffer a lot once they grow, because wisdom teeth can easily cause swollen and painful gums. If the condition is serious, intravenous treatment or local anti-inflammatory treatment can be performed.

1. Rinse your mouth alternately with hydrogen peroxide and salt water

First rinse your mouth with hydrogen peroxide. Add twice the amount of water to the hydrogen peroxide. Do not use the original solution. Then gargle with salt water several times a day and the symptoms will be relieved. It is very effective for mild wisdom tooth inflammation.

2. Infusion therapy

If the inflammation of the wisdom tooth is severe and not controlled in time, it will be necessary to treat it through infusion, because taking anti-inflammatory drugs at this stage of wisdom tooth inflammation will not have much effect.

3. Remove wisdom teeth

For wisdom teeth that are often inflamed, we should go to the dental hospital to have them removed, because the wisdom teeth themselves are of little use to us and there is no need to keep them. Of course, in a small number of cases where the wisdom teeth are in the correct position and there are wisdom teeth in the opposite jaw and their position is relatively normal, you can also consider retaining the wisdom teeth. In addition, most wisdom teeth need to be extracted.

4. Local treatment

Local treatment of pericoronitis of wisdom teeth is important. The blind bag can be flushed with 1-3% hydrogen peroxide solution, saline or other sterile solution every day, and then 3% iodine glycerol can be injected. Also give gargle with compound borax solution or furacillin solution several times a day. In the early stages, local physical therapy and external application of Chinese herbal medicine can also be used to help absorb inflammation. Acupuncture therapy can relieve pain and improve mouth opening. If abscess cavity is formed, it can be incised and drained.

5. Treat the diseased tooth

After the acute inflammation subsides, the diseased tooth should be further treated to prevent recurrence. If the teeth are in the correct position, can erupt normally, and have opposing teeth to perform chewing function, a pericoronal gingival flap wedge resection can be performed. Otherwise it should be removed.
