How to Exercise for Rheumatoid Arthritis?

Rheumatoid arthritis is a common disease. There are many causes of rheumatoid arthritis. Abnormal periosteum in human joints can easily cause rheumatoid arthritis. Rheumatoid arthritis can cause joint pain and limited range of motion. In severe cases, it may also cause some other complications.

Rheumatoid arthritis exercise

Do joint stretching exercises regularly. Studies have found that if patients with rheumatoid arthritis can do some joint stretching exercises every day, the number of joint pains can be significantly reduced. When doing joint stretching exercises, all joints of the body should be stretched gradually from top to bottom, and the intensity of stretching should be such that it does not cause pain. In the morning, you can take a hot bath (to relieve joint stiffness) and then do some stretching exercises, such as clenching your fists, spreading your fingers, etc.

Protect joints by paying attention to small things: Avoid stress on knuckles. The key is to do some inconspicuous things. For example, try not to use the handle of the water cup. You should use the palms of both hands to hold the water cup. Do not use your fingers to press hard on clothespins, nail clippers, spray bottle buttons, etc., do not pull drawers with one or two fingers, and do not write, knit or look for words for a long time. When getting up, do not use your fists to support your body. Instead, use the palms of your hands to support your body and sit up slowly. When cutting harder objects with a knife, hold the handle of the knife with your palm and press down hard instead of pressing the back of the knife with your fingers.

Change body positions frequently during exercise: Rheumatoid arthritis patients should exercise three times a week, each time for 30 minutes. Suitable exercise programs include cycling, swimming, lifting light dumbbells, etc. When you first start exercising, you can do some short, low-intensity exercise, and then gradually increase the time and intensity of your exercise. During the exercise, you should constantly change your body position to avoid putting pressure on a joint for a long time. If you feel pain in the affected area, you should stop exercising immediately.

Causes

The cause of rheumatoid arthritis is not yet fully understood. Based on symptoms, epidemiological and immunological analysis, it is believed that it is closely related to human hemolytic streptococcal infection. It is currently noted that viral infection also has a certain relationship with this disease.

complication

During the acute pain period of rheumatoid arthritis patients, long-term bed rest or taking hormones for too long may cause the patient's immune function to be weakened and cause some complications. The most common ones are as follows:

1. Pneumonia

Due to decreased immunity and bacterial infection, patients often suffer from pneumonia.

2. Urinary tract infection

If patients with rheumatoid arthritis do not pay attention to their daily lives or catch a cold, they are prone to urinary tract infections.

3. Cushing syndrome

If patients use hormones for too long, they may develop Cushing's syndrome due to suppression of adrenal cortex function. Common symptoms include moon face, buffalo hump, and weight gain.

4. Oral ulcers

Patients with rheumatoid arthritis often develop oral ulcers after taking immunosuppressants. In addition, they may also experience adverse reactions such as nausea and vomiting, anorexia, rash, and loss of taste.

5. Infectious diseases

Because patients have suffered from the disease for too long and their immune function has declined, they are more susceptible to infection than normal people when certain infectious diseases are prevalent in society.
