Is it good to sleep long?

We all know that sleep is very important to the body. When a person sleeps well, he looks energetic. But at this time, many people will say that the longer I sleep, the better it is for my health. Is this statement correct? The answer is no. Excessive sleep can actually have adverse effects on our bodies. Let us now understand some of the harms caused by excessive sleep.

1. The more you sleep, the lazier you become, which leads to a decline in intelligence.

Many people think that if they want to eliminate fatigue, they can rely on sleeping, and the more they sleep, the better the effect. In fact, this approach is very wrong. People who sleep for a long time will become lazy and feel as weak as marshmallows. Even their intelligence will be affected.

After a night of sleep every day, our body's muscle tone will increase when we wake up in the morning. At this time, the blood supply to the muscles is also "awakened" and accelerated, allowing the bones and muscles to be in a state of repair. People who often sleep in miss this step and feel weak when they get up. Moreover, for people who sleep a lot for a long time, the sleep center is always in an excited state. This will suppress other nerve centers, causing the whole person to become drowsy and listless.

2. Affects heart rate.

If we lie down and sleep for a long time, our heart is in a resting state. Without sufficient exercise for a long time, it is easy to cause irregular heartbeat. If this continues for a long time, it is easy to cause some heart diseases.

3. Cause respiratory diseases.

In our room, the air quality is the worst every morning because after a night's sleep, there is a lot of foul air in the bedroom. These unclean air are very harmful to our respiratory tract. People who often sleep with the doors closed usually do little exercise, and the poor air quality will lead to frequent respiratory diseases such as colds and coughs.

So how long is the most appropriate amount of sleep per day?

1. Elderly people: sleep 5.5 to 7 hours a day.

We all know that people sleep less as they get older. The elderly can keep their daily sleep time within this range. Studies have shown that if the elderly sleep less than 7 hours a day, brain decline will be delayed a lot. However, long-term sleep time exceeding 7 hours will have a negative impact on the brain.

2. Adults – about 7 hours.

The best sleep time for adults is between 10 pm and 5 am. Entering deep sleep during this period is very effective in relieving fatigue, and you will feel refreshed after waking up.

3. Teenagers – about 8 hours.

For teenagers, it is very important to ensure 8 hours of sleep every day, and don't sleep in on weekends. Otherwise it will disrupt your biological clock and affect your mental state for the next day.
