Uses of Barium Sulfate

Contraindications

Patients with suspected gastrointestinal perforation. Patients with intestinal obstruction. Patients with acute gastrointestinal discharge. Patients with general debility. (Mannitol is contraindicated in laxatives). Notes: 1. Barium sulfate must be strictly inspected according to the pharmacopoeia regulations and must not contain soluble barium salts. 2. This product should not be used for oral gastrointestinal examination in the following cases: 1) Acute gastrointestinal perforation; 2) Esophageal tracheal fistula and suspected congenital esophageal atresia; 3) Recent esophageal varicose vein rupture and massive bleeding; 4) Colonic obstruction; 5) Pharyngeal paralysis 3. This product should be used with caution for oral gastrointestinal examination in the following cases: 1) Acute gastric and duodenal bleeding; 2) Small intestinal obstruction; 3) Habitual constipation
