What is the cause of blisters in male urethra?

In daily life, the appearance of small blisters at the urethral opening is a relatively common disease, and there are many reasons for the appearance of blisters at the urethral opening. Generally, this may be due to a urethral infection or a symptom caused by edema of the urethral opening. When blisters appear at the urethral opening, you should pay more attention to your personal hygiene and try to maintain a clean life.

What is the cause of blisters in male urethra?

1. Urethral cyst

Urethral cyst, also known as glans gland cyst. This cyst is mostly located around the external urethral orifice and the frenulum of the foreskin. The lump initially appears as a bright bubble, about the size of a millet to a pea, with a thin wall and containing transparent jelly-like or watery liquid. Usually asymptomatic. For example, a large urethral cyst can affect urination, causing the urine stream to deviate to one side or spread out. In very rare cases of secondary infection, the surface will become congested, red and swollen.

A small urethral cyst may not have much impact on daily life, but as the cyst grows, it will cause secondary infection of the urogenital system and increase the chance of ascending infection. At the same time, the enlarged cyst will also cause blockage and obstruction of the urethra. Patients are advised to go to a professional andrology hospital in time to find out the size and location of the cyst in order to develop a treatment plan.

2. Balanitis

Balanitis is the most common disease of the glans and foreskin. Almost all patients have phimosis or prepuce that is too long. Between the glans penis and the excessively long foreskin, a warm, moist bacterial culture medium is formed due to the desquamated epithelial cells, glandular secretions and smegma bacteria, which can cause inflammation once the bacteria enter.

In the early stages of balanoposthitis, edema and congestion can be seen on the surface of the glans and foreskin, redness, wounds and erosions may appear around the urethral opening, and may develop into superficial ulcers with purulent secretions flowing out. The patient will feel itching or burning sensation at the glans penis, followed by pain. After ulceration, pus may flow out and have a foul smell. In severe cases, there may also be fatigue, low fever, swollen and tender inguinal lymph nodes.

3. Genital herpes

If the patient has had unclean sexual intercourse, the possibility of genital herpes cannot be ruled out.

Genital herpes HSV infection occurs about 4 to 5 days after infection. The affected area of the vulva first has a burning sensation, followed by the development of papules in groups, which may be one or more clusters, followed by the formation of blisters. After a few days, it develops into a pustule, which then breaks to form an erosion or shallow ulcer, causing pain. It eventually scabs and heals on its own. The course of the disease is about 2 to 3 weeks. Skin lesions are often found on the foreskin, glans, coronal sulcus and penis of men, and occasionally at the urethral opening.

4. Genital warts

Genital warts are common in men around the coronal sulcus and frenulum of the foreskin, and can also be seen in the penis, foreskin, glans penis, urethral orifice, pubic hair and other parts. In the early stages, genital warts appear as soft, light pink papules that range in size from a needle tip to a mung bean. They are fleshy growths with a nipple-like surface. The warts proliferate in granular, rough and uneven forms, and tend to grow in moist areas of the genitals. If the disease is not controlled, the warts will gradually increase to the size of a peanut, or fuse together to become cauliflower-shaped, cockscomb-shaped or huge masses. Ulceration often occurs when the infection is severe.
