What causes unilateral nosebleeds?

Some patients with rhinitis often have nosebleeds, and the location of the nosebleed is also quite special, usually only one nostril. Some people have injured their noses when they were young, which causes nosebleeds even with a slight touch. This is because the capillary walls in the nose are particularly thin. It may also be caused by getting angry. So what are the causes of unilateral nosebleeds? Let’s take a look together below.

This situation can be caused by rhinitis, dry air, inflammation, thrombocytopenia and other diseases. You can go to the ENT department to do nasal and blood tests to determine the cause and then conduct drug treatment. Drink plenty of water and do not eat spicy food.

Unilateral nasal bleeding is mainly caused by rupture of small arteries in the superficial nasal mucosa, which is related to dry nasal cavity and frequent nose picking. You should drink more water, eat more fruits and vegetables, and don't pick your nose frequently. At the same time, keep the surrounding environment moist and avoid dryness to prevent bleeding. You can also take vitamin C, which can soften blood vessels and prevent bleeding.

Nosebleeds are caused by ruptured nasal mucosa, which is mostly caused by dry nasal mucosa, congestion, improper nose picking or trauma. Your child may have dry nasal mucosa or nose picking that ruptures the nasal mucosa. For mild cases, pinching the nose or inserting a cotton ball can stop the bleeding and heal on its own. Recurrent episodes may be caused by rupture of nasal mucosal arterioles or erosion of the nasal mucosa. This type of bleeding is difficult to recover and often recurs when washing the face, rubbing the nose or lowering the head. Your child has unilateral nasal bleeding, and the amount of bleeding is large and jet-like. It may be due to rupture of the nasal mucosal artery. It is recommended to go to the ENT department for nasal packing or electrocoagulation hemostasis treatment. At the same time, routine blood tests and four blood coagulation tests were performed to rule out blood diseases.

Bleeding can occur in any part of the nasal cavity, but it is most common in the anterior and inferior area of the nasal septum. Sometimes jet or pulsating arteriolar bleeding can be seen. Bleeding from the posterior nasal cavity often flows quickly into the pharynx and is spit out from the mouth. Generally speaking, nosebleeds caused by local diseases are mostly limited to one nostril, while those caused by systemic diseases may cause bleeding in both nostrils alternately or simultaneously. Recommendation: Generally, pinch your nose with your hands and apply direct pressure for about five to ten minutes. Most patients can stop bleeding simply by this method.
