What to do if your ankles are dry and cracked

What to do if your ankles are dry and cracked

The phenomenon of dry and cracked heels is quite common, and many people in life are troubled by this problem. However, dry and cracked ankles may sound unfamiliar. In fact, many people also have symptoms of dry and cracked ankles. There are many reasons for this problem, such as fungal infection, chapped skin or chronic eczema, etc. Only by finding out the cause can we prescribe the right medicine.

1. What causes dry, cracked and hardened ankles? Fungal infection, chronic eczema, palmoplantar keratosis, chapped skin, etc. may all occur. First, it is recommended to go to the hospital for a fungal microscopic examination to determine whether there is a fungal infection. If so, antifungal drugs must be used to control it. If there is no fungal infection, you can directly use a strong hormone ointment, combined with an ointment such as salicylic acid or retinoic acid, to promote cuticle repair. Usually, you must pay attention to keeping the local skin warm and moisturized, and try to reduce external stimulation. 2. Fungal infection can be treated with Pikangwang ointment. It is not serious. This is tinea corporis, a fungal infection, which is transmitted by athlete's foot, a kind of fungus, transmitted by scratching the hands. They are all fungal infections and the treatment is antifungal treatment.

3. Palmoplantar keratosis Palmoplantar keratosis is a group of chronic skin diseases characterized by thickening and excessive keratinization of the skin on the palms and soles, also known as palmoplantar keratoderma. This disease includes two types: hereditary and acquired. Hereditary diseases account for the majority, and the main manifestations are related manifestations of palmoplantar keratosis. The treatment principles are to reduce the thickening of the stratum corneum, lubricate the skin, prevent chapped skin, and reduce pressure and friction. 1. Systemic treatment mainly consists of vitamin A acid drugs, which can reduce keratotic damage. Discontinuation of the drug can easily lead to recurrence of the disease. 2. Local treatment (1) Keratolytic drugs: Salicylic acid ointment, urea ointment, etc. can be used for treatment. (2) Topical vitamin A acid drugs: reduce keratotic damage. (3) Topical glucocorticoids: can reduce inflammatory responses.

4. Cracked ankles Cracked ankles refer to a condition in which the skin on the feet becomes dry and cracked. It often occurs in cold and dry seasons, and is common on the heels, outer edges of the feet, etc., with cracks of varying lengths and depths. In mild cases, there is only dryness, thickening of the cuticle, and cracking; in severe cases, the cracks are deep into the dermis, prone to bleeding, and painful. You can directly apply almond skin butter to target the cause of cracked feet and relieve them. Traditional treatments for cracked feet include applying adhesive plasters; covering with plastic bags or plastic wrap; applying erythromycin ointment, vaseline ointment, etc. The first thing to do when it comes to cracked feet is to determine whether they are infected with fungi. Traditional methods are ineffective for keratotic athlete's foot. Keratotic athlete's foot is often accompanied by other athlete's foot symptoms such as itchy feet, blisters, and peeling before foot cracks occur. The fungus test was positive. If you are unsure, you can apply a drug that has both skin repair and antifungal functions.
