What happens if the testicle ruptures?

The testicle is a very important reproductive organ in men. The consequences of damage to this area are quite serious, especially in some serious situations, such as testicular rupture. Testicular rupture usually occurs due to trauma. The rupture is definitely very serious, and the induced consequences have become the patient's biggest concern. So, what happens if a testicle ruptures? Let’s take a closer look at the consequences.

1. Testicular contusion is often caused by direct kicking, falling from a height, or squeezing of the testicles. Severe pain after injury often radiates to the lower abdomen and ipsilateral waist and is accompanied by nausea and vomiting. In severe cases, it can cause painful shock. During the examination, scrotal enlargement, subcutaneous hemorrhage, testicular swelling and obvious tenderness can be seen. Due to the restriction of the solid testicular white membrane, the internal pressure increases and the hard testicles can be touched. 2. Testicular rupture is usually caused by open injury, and testicular tissue is often exposed. Testicular rupture due to blunt trauma is less common. The main symptoms are severe pain after injury, and even nausea, vomiting, and fainting. During the examination, scrotal ecchymosis, testicular enlargement, unclear testicular contours and obvious tenderness were found.

3. Open injuries are caused by direct injuries from sharp objects, bullets, shrapnel, etc. Damage to the scrotal wall and other tissues may cause partial testicular tissue defects. In severe cases, the testicular artery may be injured, causing active bleeding or huge hematoma, and finally leading to testicular atrophy and necrosis. And may leave behind complications such as impotence, sexual dysfunction, etc. 4. Testicular dislocation is caused by blunt force from the perineum squeezing the testicles, which causes the testicles to be displaced and unable to return to their original normal position. The location of the dislocated testicle depends on the size, direction, nature of the violence and the local anatomical weaknesses. The testicles are often prolapsed in the inguinal canal and perineum. It manifests as severe pain in the groin or perineum after trauma. During examination, the scrotum is found to be empty, while painful lumps can be felt in the corresponding areas outside the scrotum.

5. Testicular torsion Testicular torsion may be related to anatomical deformities, such as excessive width of the sac vaginalis, incomplete testicular descent, etc. The part below the torsion first undergoes congestion and hemorrhagic infarction. Due to the spasm of the levator testis muscle, the testicles are pulled back. The clinical manifestations are local swelling, obvious tenderness, and palpable testicular mass, which is helpful for diagnosis. 6. Iatrogenic injuries are commonly caused by intrascrotal surgeries, such as epididymal surgery, tunica vaginalis inversion, testicular biopsy, testicular puncture, etc., which can directly lead to testicular damage. However, local damage to the testicles will not cause serious consequences if repaired in time.
