Scar repair with skin flap

Scar repair with skin flap

The flap method is a treatment method that has a good repair effect on all kinds of scars. It is also widely used in clinical medicine. Of course, in order to better perform the operation and reduce the risks and complications of the operation, the patient must make relevant preparations before the operation, and after the operation, the patient must also be well cared for. The following is a detailed introduction to the relevant knowledge of the flap method.

1. Indications

1. Contracture deformity and functional impairment of varying degrees caused by various scars.

2. Although there is no scar, contracture deformity or functional disorder, the normal appearance is affected and mental and psychological burden is caused to the patient.

3. Although atrophic scars or unstable scars do not have obvious contracture, scar repair surgery is necessary to prevent the occurrence of scar ulcers.

4. To prevent scar ulcers from becoming cancerous, scar ulcers can be completely removed at an early stage.

2. Principle of the flap method

This facial scar revision surgery method has the effect of protecting the deeper tissues because the flap contains more subcutaneous fat tissue. Skin flap transplantation is also a commonly used method for scar repair near some facial organs.

3. Notes

After facial skin is injured, the most worrying thing is scars. In fact, traumatic scars and pigmentation spots can be prevented and treated as long as you pay attention to the following points:

1. Pay attention to the cleaning of the wound. After facial trauma, wash the injured area with cold boiled water in time. If it is a burn, rinse the area immediately with plenty of clean cold water to minimize high temperature damage to deep tissues and prevent traumatic scars.

2. Preventing infection is the key to preventing wounds from leaving scars, because infection can cause damage deep into the subdermis, making it impossible for the epidermis to regenerate, and the proliferation of granulation tissue to fill the defects will form scars. To prevent infection, apply chloramphenicol eye ointment on the cleaned wound. Twice a day, until the wound scabs over. Do not use iodine to disinfect, so as not to cause pigmentation.

3. Natural scab shedding. The wound skin will become itchy after the scab forms. Don’t be impatient at this time and don’t try to tear it off artificially with your hands. You should let it fall off naturally, otherwise the new tissue under the scab will be torn, causing permanent pigmentation spots.

4. Pay attention to protection. Protect the tender skin. Do not use any cosmetics to cover the red and tender skin after the scab falls off. You can use vitamin A, D pills or vitamin E pills to protect the skin and make it soft and moisturized. You can use non-irritating cosmetics after half a month. Avoid exposure to sunlight for three months.

5. Medication treatment: If pigmentation appears on the face after trauma, you can take vitamin C, 100 mg each time, and vitamin E, 100 mg each time. Take it three times a day for one to two months to reduce pigmentation and promote recovery.

6. Pay attention to your diet. If you drink a lot of alcohol after the injury, or consume irritating foods such as chili peppers, lamb, garlic, ginger, coffee, etc., it will cause scar proliferation. Eat more fruits, green leafy vegetables, eggs, lean pork, pork skin and other foods rich in vitamin C, E and essential amino acids for the human body. This will help the skin return to normal as soon as possible and prevent traumatic scars.
