Why is the leucorrhea yellow after the lochia is clean?

After giving birth, if the lochia is completely discharged and the leucorrhea is yellowish, the mother should go to the hospital for a routine examination of the leucorrhea in time. This situation may be caused by some gynecological diseases. The yellowish leucorrhea is often caused by an imbalance in the ecological environment inside the vagina. Therefore, we should pay attention to it to avoid causing greater impact on our health due to illness.

Why is the leucorrhea yellow after the lochia is clean?

It may be because of the lochia residue after delivery and the warm and humid environment, which can easily breed harmful bacteria. In the absence of antibiotics, the number of lactobacilli is insufficient (this situation is called vaginal flora imbalance, and abuse of antibiotics, washes, colds and low immunity can all cause this situation). There is not enough lactic acid to maintain the gradually increasing vaginal pH value, and harmful bacteria grow wildly, breaking through the vaginal mucosa and inducing inflammation. The initial manifestation of inflammation is abnormal symptoms such as yellow vaginal discharge.

As the endometrium (especially the endometrium where the placenta is attached) falls off, mucus secreted by the uterus also flows out of the vagina. This is lochia. Normal lochia has a bloody smell, but it is not smelly. Theoretically, lochia will be clear in about 3 weeks after delivery, and its color will change over time. It is red in the first week, turns yellow in another week, and turns white in the third week.

But in reality, such cases are rare, and the time mothers face nowadays is generally longer. If it is cleaned within a month, there is no big problem. If it is not clean, you need to analyze it in detail based on the quantity, color and smell. If the quantity is small, there is no odor and it is a little brown, you can continue to observe. Otherwise, seek medical attention.

Beware of gynecological diseases

There is no special reason for postpartum vaginitis. Hygiene is only one factor. The key is whether the body's resistance is reduced. In a normal vaginal environment, various bacteria live in peace and will not cause disease. But if this balance is broken and resistance decreases, vaginitis will naturally occur. For treatment, oral and topical medications are more effective. If you want to cure it completely, it is recommended to temporarily wean the baby for a period of time. The specific time varies from person to person. For example, for more stubborn candidal vaginitis, treatment generally takes three menstrual cycles. At the same time, it is also important to note that husband and wife must be examined and treated together.
