What to do if you become resistant to diet pills

In this era where thinness is considered beautiful, weight loss has always been a hot topic of discussion. And not only women, but men also lose fat through various fitness exercises. However, many people are busy at work and do not have much time to go out for exercise. It is not cost-effective to buy equipment themselves, so many people choose to use weight-loss pills. Taking diet pills will have some effect in the initial stage, but what should you do if you become drug-resistant after taking them for a long time?

The consequences of careless weight loss are far beyond most people's imagination. In particular, the so-called lazy weight loss method that relies on drinking slimming tea and taking slimming pills has many side effects and may even be life-threatening. The United States has the most advanced technology in drug research and development in the world, but even weight-loss drugs approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and developed by well-known pharmaceutical companies may become a major enemy to your health.

The most popular Fen-Phen weight loss therapy in the United States in the 1990s was a combination of two weight loss drugs: fenfluramine and phentermine. Both drugs were developed by American Home Products, one of the world's top ten pharmaceutical companies, and approved for marketing by the U.S. FDA. Throughout the 1990s, approximately 6 million people used the therapy to lose weight.

This treatment was later found to cause serious health hazards. Fenfluramine is a weight loss drug that acts on the central nervous system to suppress appetite by increasing satiety. The drug was approved in the United States in 1995 for the treatment of obesity. Later, several studies confirmed that the use of fenfluramine can lead to serious side effects such as heart valve damage, central nervous system damage, pulmonary hypertension and finger necrosis. Among people who took fenfluramine to lose weight, 30% of them had abnormal electrocardiograms. The FDA had to withdraw the drug from the market in September 1997 and reminded all patients who had taken fenfluramine for a long time to go to the hospital immediately for a cardiac ultrasound examination to check for heart valve damage.

In August 1999, a court ruled that American Home Products should pay $23.3 million in damages to a woman who developed heart problems after taking the fen-phen weight loss regimen. Since then, American Home Products has been forced to agree to pay $3.75 billion in compensation to all those who suffered heart problems as a result of the fen-phen diet. Compensation for those who have suffered damage to their lungs and central nervous system has not yet been finalized.

Coincidentally, another major American pharmaceutical company, Chicago-based Abbott, is being sued by consumers for its weight-loss drug Meridia, which it launched in 1998, due to its serious side effects, which have even caused deaths. Italy completely banned the use of Meridia in 2002. It is reported that the side effects caused by Meridia include: increased blood pressure, increased heart rate, myocardial damage, neck pain, chest pain, body pain, hyperactivity, anxiety, stroke, etc.

In the United States, before a drug can be brought to market, it often takes years of research, multiple clinical trials, and hundreds of millions of dollars of research funding by a large number of rigorously trained PhDs and Masters degree holders in various fields to develop it. Even so, there are still countless drugs that cannot pass the FDA's scrutiny and are unable to be marketed. Large pharmaceutical companies have strong technical strength and financial resources, so it is easier for them to produce products and they also have a better reputation.

From this you can see that weight-loss drugs developed by large pharmaceutical companies such as American Home Products and Apatite can cause so much trouble, not to mention some small domestic companies that are unknown, have very backward technology and management, and don’t even know what modern pharmaceutical manufacturing is. Most of the weight loss pills and health products produced by these small companies are disguised as pure Chinese herbal preparations and pure natural formulas. They take advantage of the Chinese people's misunderstanding of natural products and mislead consumers through heavy advertising.
