Hallux valgus correction exercises

Hallux valgus correction exercises

Medical technology has made tremendous progress now, and many difficult and complicated diseases that were difficult to treat in the past can now be effectively treated. For example, in the past, the prognosis for stroke patients was poor, on the one hand because of inadequate medical technology and on the other hand because of inadequate postoperative rehabilitation methods. my country's rehabilitation technology has made great progress, and the treatment effects and prognosis of some bone injury patients are very good. So what are the exercises to correct hallux valgus?

Hallux valgus is a tilt of the joint between the big toe and the first metatarsal bone greater than 15 degrees. Hallux valgus is caused by a variety of conditions, such as heredity, frequent wearing of high-heeled or pointed shoes, which causes the big toe to turn outward excessively. In addition, patients with flat feet are more likely to develop hallux valgus.

There are more female patients than male patients, and they are mostly middle-aged and elderly women. Those who are accustomed to wearing high-heeled shoes and pointed shoes are also prone to the disease.

The causes of hallux valgus can be divided into two categories: congenital factors and acquired factors. Congenital factors are caused by joints, nerves, muscles, etc. For example: flat feet, genetics, reduced and unbalanced plantar muscle strength, etc., reduce the function of the soles of the feet, causing instability and subsequent deformation. The acquired factors are caused by wearing ill-fitting shoes, usually due to wearing heels that are too high, too pointed, or too narrow, which makes it difficult to keep the heels in place, causing squeezing, friction, and pressure on the toes. This not only affects the extension and movement of the toes, causing discomfort and pain, but also destroys the function of the original three footholds. When walking, the weight of the whole body falls on the front of the foot, and the toes will gradually deform due to the pressure of the body weight, which will cause hallux valgus.

Long-term eversion will cause the ligaments between the metatarsals to loosen. Although the metatarsals are connected by strong ligaments, the connection between the first cuneiform bone and the first metatarsal bone is weaker than that between other cuneiform bones and metatarsals. If you stand for too long, walk too much, or often wear high-heeled or pointed shoes, the first cuneiform bone and metatarsal bones will be under pressure of more than 25%, causing the first metatarsal bone to shift inward, causing the longitudinal and transverse arches of the foot to collapse, and the big toe to move outward due to the traction of the adductor hallucis and extensor hallucis longus, increasing the angle between the first and second metatarsal bones. The first metatarsal head forms an osteophyte on the medial side of the foot, hallux valgus gradually worsens, the second toe is pushed dorsally by the big toe, the interphalangeal joint flexes, and a hammer toe is formed.

Hallux valgus is named when the big toe deviates outward by more than 15 degrees at the first metatarsophalangeal joint. Hallux valgus can be divided into genetic and acquired causes caused by incorrect force. Because hallux valgus causes many women's feet to become deformed and painful, affecting their appearance, it has gradually attracted people's attention. Under such circumstances, hallux valgus came into being. To correct hallux valgus internationally, hallux valgus insoles are generally used during the day, and scientifically designed hallux valgus correctors are recommended at night. Restoring the big toe to its normal physiological position is the common goal of hallux valgus corrector and insole.
