Why do old people's hands shake?

Why do old people's hands shake?

Hand tremor is a symptom caused by the hand muscles being out of control by the human body. The symptoms often occur in the elderly and are clinically known as Parkinson's syndrome. Although hand tremors occur in the hands, the main cause of hand tremors is the brain. If hand tremors are left untreated for a long time, they will affect other parts of the body, such as the face, and will also affect a person's ability to move. So what are the causes of hand tremors in the elderly?

1. Physiological tremor

Sometimes hand tremors do not represent a sign of disease. In many cases, even young people may experience hand tremors. This condition is generally more common in the limbs, head, tongue and other parts of the body. This phenomenon usually occurs after mental stress, panic, emotional excitement, fatigue, etc. This is a physiological tremor and can be recovered immediately with more rest. No treatment is required.

2. Essential Tremor

Essential tremor, also known as familial tremor, usually occurs before the patient is 25 years old, and becomes more severe with age. The tremors in this type of patients are mostly in the hands, head, or when pronouncing words, especially in the hands.

3. Senile tremor

In the early stages of tremor, hand shaking usually occurs during exercise. As the condition develops, it may also occur when you are still. The shaking parts are generally the hands, head, and lips. For these patients, it is recommended that they go to the hospital for examination and treatment as soon as possible, and receive treatment in the early stages.

4. Tremor palsy

The main symptom of Parkinson's disease is trembling of the hands. Parkinson's disease is caused by extrapyramidal brain lesions. The tremor is characterized by resting tremor, which is also very rhythmic. The tremor of the fingers is "pill-rolling-like". At the same time, it is accompanied by increased muscle tone and decreased movement, and lack of facial expression.

5. Organic tremor is caused by pathological factors, and the root of the disease is mostly in the brain. Often due to certain diseases, the area of the brain responsible for motor coordination is damaged, causing tremors. This is only a precursor to cerebrovascular disease, and it should be taken seriously.
