How to peel fresh chestnuts

How to peel fresh chestnuts

The method of peeling fresh chestnuts is also relatively simple. The most common method is to prepare a clean container, then add a little salt and water, put the chestnuts in after the water boils, and cook for a few minutes. The skin of the chestnuts will fall off easily. You can also use the freezing method, microwave heating method, or sunlight exposure method. You can easily peel off the chestnut skin.

How to peel fresh chestnuts

1. Hot water immersion method

Wash the chestnuts, put them in a container, add a little salt, cover them with boiling water, and cover the pot. After 5 minutes, take out the chestnuts and cut them open, the chestnut skin will fall off along with the chestnut shell. This method of removing chestnut skin saves time and effort.

2. Stirring with chopsticks

Cut the chestnut in half, peel it and put it in a basin. Soak it in boiling water for a while, then stir it with chopsticks. The skin of the chestnut will separate from the flesh. However, please note that the soaking time should not be too long, otherwise it will affect the nutritional content of chestnuts.

3. Refrigerator Freezer Method

After the chestnuts are cooked, cool them and put them in the refrigerator for two hours to separate the shell and the meat. This way, the chestnut skin can be peeled quickly and the chestnut meat remains intact.

4. Microwave Heating

Use scissors to cut the shell of the chestnuts you bought, put them in the microwave and heat them at high temperature for 30 seconds, and the skin and flesh inside will automatically fall off. Before using this method to remove chestnut skins, be sure to cut open the shells, otherwise it may cause microwave malfunction.

5. Thermal expansion and contraction method

Use a knife to peel the chestnut shells, put them into boiling water and cook for 3-5 minutes. After taking them out, immediately soak them in cold water for 3-5 minutes. This will make it easy to peel off the chestnut shells and the taste will remain unchanged.

6. Sun exposure method

Place the chestnuts you want to eat in the sun for a day and the shells will crack. At this time, it is easy to peel off the outer shell and the thin skin inside whether you peel them raw or cooked. However, chestnuts that are prepared for storage cannot be dried in the sun, because dried chestnuts cannot be preserved for a long time.
