Donating blood can help others and is a good deed. Our country advocates voluntary blood donation, which can provide fresh blood for the blood bank and give hope of survival to patients in emergency situations. If it is your first time to donate blood, you must understand some precautions to ensure the quality of the donated blood. Pay attention to your diet and do not eat greasy, spicy and irritating foods. Get enough sleep and do not drink alcohol the day before donating blood.

On the morning of the day of donation, you should eat light food, such as porridge, steamed buns, bread, eggs, etc., to avoid dizziness, palpitations, sweating and other reactions during the blood donation process. Drink plenty of water, preferably sugar water.

3. If you drink more than one or two glasses of liquor two hours before donating blood, the test will fail, so you cannot drink alcohol before donating blood.

4. Before donating blood, do not eat Holland mints (the dark blue one), fish, meat, fried dough sticks, fried cakes, eggs, milk, high-fat, high-protein foods, large amounts of peanuts, melon seeds, and soy products, so as not to affect the test results and blood quality.

It is best not to take any medicines three days before donating blood, such as aspirin, cefradine, sildenafil, petrolatum, vitamin E, indomethacin, dipyridamole, aminophylline, chloramphenicol and anti-allergic drugs, as these medicines have serious effects on the blood recipient and also affect the recovery after blood donation.
