Symptoms of brain tumor in 7-year-old children

Brain tumor is a common brain disease that affects people's brain safety. It poses a great threat to people's physical health and sometimes even threatens their lives. For babies, due to the incomplete development of the immune system and other functions in the early stage, they are prone to some physical illnesses. In fact, her baby suffered from a brain tumor, a disease that has a great impact on the body. Parents are naturally very worried, so what are the symptoms of a seven-year-old baby suffering from a brain tumor?

Symptoms of brain tumors in children

1. Vomiting

This is the most common manifestation of intracranial tumors in children. It tends to occur in the early morning in the early stages, and as the disease progresses, it can appear at any time of the day and is intermittent and recurrent. For children, vomiting in the form of projectiles from the mouth and nose is common, accompanied by headaches.

We all know that this is a manifestation of increased intracranial pressure, but in clinical practice, about 10% of children with brain tumors only have repeated vomiting without headaches; this is often because the vomiting center at the bottom of the fourth ventricle is compressed and stimulated by the tumor, causing vomiting. Therefore, when a child has unexplained repeated vomiting, especially accompanied by headache or dizziness, parents should take their children for head imaging examinations.

2. Headache

Headaches are very common in adults, most of which are vascular neuralgia or neurosis. However, for children, the organic lesions in headaches are significantly higher than those in adults, and severe headaches are accompanied by vomiting. Infants or young children are unable to express the feeling of headache to their parents, and often become irritable, slap their heads, pull their hair, and cry constantly. Parents should be aware that persistent irritability in infancy may indicate that the child has a headache, but the child cannot communicate with you yet.

3. Head enlargement

It often occurs in infants and young children. During this period, the cranial sutures of children have not healed or have not healed tightly. The increased intracranial pressure can cause the cranial sutures to separate and increase the head circumference. This type of head enlargement is usually less obvious than congenital hydrocephalus.

4. Impairment of consciousness or mental abnormality

Severe impaired consciousness is often caused by brain herniation, and children with severe increased intracranial pressure may show apathy, fatigue, and drowsiness, which requires attention. Foreign data show that about 50% of children with brain tumors experience personality changes or abnormal behaviors. Most children appear dull, uninterested in play, easily fatigued, silent, or irritable.

5. Continuous fever

Experts remind parents to always pay attention to subtle changes in their children's symptoms. If a child has continuous fever, weight loss, pallor, loss of appetite, fatigue, purpura and other bleeding symptoms for more than two weeks, he or she should go to the hospital's hematology and oncology clinic for diagnosis and treatment in time and receive necessary special examinations to avoid missed diagnosis or delayed diagnosis.

6. Epileptic seizures without trauma or high fever

Epilepsy caused by tumors is fundamentally different from ordinary epilepsy: "If epileptic seizures occur without trauma or high fever, one should be highly alert to the possibility of a tumor." Experts say that all tumors may cause epilepsy, especially tumors in the motor area of the cerebral hemisphere. A 6-year-old child once had intermittent convulsions at the corners of his mouth, and later it was discovered that he had a brain tumor on the right inner parietal.

The above introduces the symptoms of brain tumors in children. The harm of brain tumors is very great. In life, we must do a good job in preventing brain tumors in children, keep children away from radiation, and never abuse drugs!
