Acne is a relatively common chronic skin inflammation phenomenon. Generally, the most susceptible population is teenagers. This kind of phenomenon has a great psychological impact on teenagers, but acne can slowly heal or disappear on its own in the late adolescence. The main cause of acne is closely related to the excessive secretion of sebum, which leads to the blockage of the sebaceous gland ducts of our hair follicles. Acne is the most normal phenomenon among teenagers. This is because the level of androgen in the human body gradually increases when entering puberty, which promotes the normal development of our sebaceous glands and produces a large amount of sebum. At the same time, the sebaceous glands of the hair follicles may also become abnormally keratinized, leading to blockage. Sebum secretion is impaired, forming keratin plugs, also known as micro-acne. Various microorganisms, especially Propionibacterium acnes, multiply in large numbers in the hair follicles. The lipase produced by Propionibacterium acnes breaks down sebum to produce free fatty acids, while also attracting inflammatory cells and mediators, ultimately inducing and aggravating the inflammatory response. According to the characteristics of onset in adolescents, skin lesions are distributed on the face, chest and back, and the main manifestations are polymorphic skin lesions such as whiteheads, blackheads, inflammatory papules, pustules, etc. Common methods for treating acne include: topical medications such as tretinoin cream, adapalene gel, tazarotene gel, benzoyl peroxide, antibiotics such as clindamycin, erythromycin, chloramphenicol, azelaic acid, sulfur lotion, etc. The first choice of oral antibiotics is tetracyclines such as minocycline, doxycycline, etc., followed by macrolides also known as erythromycin. Avoid choosing antibiotics commonly used to treat systemic infections such as levofloxacin. The course of antibiotics is usually 6 to 12 weeks. Oral isotretinoin For severe acne, oral isotretinoin is the standard treatment and currently the most effective method for treating acne. For the treatment of acne, we can take good care of it every day, such as washing our face with warm water once or twice a day to thoroughly clean our skin. Secondly, it is important to remind you not to scratch the skin lesions caused by acne with your hands. Then, avoid using oily cosmetics or irritating ointments. |
