Sebaceous cyst

Sebaceous cyst

Sebaceous cyst is also called cyst in traditional Chinese medicine. It is mainly because the sebaceous glands are blocked, resulting in the inability to excrete in time. It is very common under the skin of the head or genitals. This disease grows slowly and is a benign lesion. There are usually no conscious symptoms. If a secondary infection occurs, there will be pain, suppuration, and in severe cases, cancer may occur.

People probably don't know much about sebaceous cysts, and don't know what kind of disease it is. It is also called cyst. Generally, patients do not have any conscious symptoms. If squeezed, something like tofu residue will appear. If infected, there will be serious consequences.

Clinical manifestations

1 Commonly found on the face with abundant sebaceous glands, they can be as small as beans or as large as small oranges. The cyst is round, located within the skin and protrudes toward the skin surface. The cyst wall is tightly adhered to the skin, and there may be a small pigmented spot in the center. Clinically, it can be differentiated from epidermoid cyst based on this main feature. Grayish white curd-like contents with a foul odor may occasionally flow out.

How to treat sebaceous cysts.

2 Sebaceous cysts develop slowly, are round in shape, have clear boundaries with surrounding tissues, are soft in texture, are non-tender, and are movable. Generally no symptoms

3. Secondary infection of sebaceous cyst may manifest as: local skin redness, swelling, softening, increased skin temperature, pain, and suppuration.

Treatment

1 Conservative treatment method

The skin lesion area is routinely disinfected, and a 9-16 gauge needle is used for cyst cavity puncture according to the size of the cyst. Because the contents are thick and difficult to extract, an appropriate amount of saline solution needs to be injected to dilute it. During the operation, physiological saline can be repeatedly injected to dilute and flush the cystic cavity, and the contents of the cystic cavity can be drained out as much as possible. After the cyst cavity contents are evacuated, inject about 1 to 3 ml of a mixture of Xiaozhiling injection and 2% lidocaine injection (prepared before use in a 1:1 ratio) according to the size of the cyst. The amount of mixed injection solution injected is preferably about 1/3 of the volume of the cyst cavity. After injection, massage the local area for 3 to 5 minutes, fold the medical sterile gauze into the same size as the tumor and cover the tumor with pressure to fix it. Remove the gauze after 2 days and observe the therapeutic effect after 4 weeks. If the effect is not satisfactory, another injection can be given. If the third injection is ineffective, surgical treatment can be performed instead.

2Surgery

Sebaceous cysts should be surgically removed when they are not infected.

[Preoperative preparation]

Shave the local skin and clean it.

[anaesthetization]

Local anesthesia.

[Surgical steps]

Make a fusiform incision with the cyst as the center, and remove the skin flap together with the cyst; if the cyst is small, a straight incision can be made. After cutting the subcutaneous tissue, use tissue forceps to flip up one end of the skin flap, gently lift the tumor, and then use tissue scissors (or hemostatic forceps) to separate it along the edge of the cyst to make it completely free; the fibrous cords at the bottom of the cyst can be clamped, cut and ligated with hemostatic forceps to completely remove the cyst. After the wound is flushed and bleeding is stopped, the incision is sutured in layers and a slight pressure bandage is applied.

For the occurrence of sebaceous cysts, we must seek timely treatment. Surgery is also a good treatment method, but there are many things to pay attention to after surgery. We must pay attention to developing regular living habits, a reasonable diet, and adjusting our mood. We must also pay attention to some issues in diet, eat more nutritious foods, and have a light taste.
