Seborrheic dermatitis symptoms

Seborrheic dermatitis symptoms

The main site of seborrheic dermatitis is the head, but symptoms of seborrheic dermatitis may also appear on both sides of the nose. The harm of this disease is the most serious among many dermatitis, because if it occurs on the head, it is likely to cause hair loss, and in severe cases it may even cause large clumps of hair to fall out, which has a very serious impact on people's lives, and the disease is relatively difficult to treat.

Especially when seborrheic dermatitis occurs on the head, because it is not easy to apply topical ointments, and if the hair is too dirty, it will aggravate the symptoms of seborrheic dermatitis, so patients with this disease have been troubled by its treatment. However, if you want to treat seborrheic dermatitis, you must first know its symptoms.

Symptom 1: Prevalent areas: The rash is prone to occur on the scalp, eyebrows, eyelids, nose and sides, behind the ears, neck, chest and upper back interscapular area, armpits, groin, umbilicus and other areas with abundant sebaceous glands. Lesions that occur on the trunk are often ring-shaped. Skin lesions often start from the scalp and gradually spread downwards. In severe cases, they can spread throughout the body and develop into erythroderma.

Symptom 2: Skin lesions: The most typical skin lesions of seborrheic dermatitis are dark yellow-red spots, plaques or maculopapules with clear edges, covered with greasy scales or crusts on the surface. Due to the different locations of the lesions, the clinical manifestations vary slightly.

Symptom three: Itching: The subjective symptoms are itching of varying degrees.

Symptom 4: Adult seborrheic dermatitis: The symptoms of adult seborrheic dermatitis include oily, dry or mixed skin accompanied by severe itching. Skin surface symptoms such as desquamation and erythema are more obvious.

Symptom 5: Infant seborrheic dermatitis: Infant seborrheic dermatitis often occurs in the first month after birth. The lesions are mostly on the scalp, forehead, between the eyebrows and cheeks. They are exudative erythema with thick yellow greasy crusts.

After understanding the symptoms of seborrheic dermatitis, if you suffer from this disease, you must start treatment from your lifestyle habits. Avoid drinking alcohol and eating spicy and irritating foods. Otherwise, it will only make seborrheic dermatitis more difficult to treat and it will also easily cause a recurrence of seborrheic dermatitis.
