Trichomonas vaginitis: Trichomonas vaginitis is a common vaginitis caused by Trichomonas vaginalis. Trichomonas is pear-shaped with a pointed rear end and is about 2 to 3 times the size of a multinucleated leukocyte. There are four flagella at the top of the insect body, a wavy membrane on the body, and an axial column protruding at the rear end. Living Trichomonas is transparent and colorless, in the shape of a water droplet, and its flagella swing with the fluctuation of the oscillating membrane. The life history of Trichomonas is simple, with only trophozoites but no encapsulated stage. The trophozoites have strong vitality and can survive for 2 days at 3-5°C; 20-60 minutes at 46°C; about 10 hours in a semi-dry environment; and 45-120 minutes in ordinary soapy water. It will not grow in an environment with a pH below 5 or above 7.5. The vaginal pH value of patients with Trichomonas vaginitis is generally 5.1-5.4. Trichomonas hidden in the glands and vaginal folds can often reproduce before and after menstruation, causing inflammation. It can consume or engulf the glycogen in the vaginal epithelial cells and hinder the production of lactic acid. Trichomonas not only parasitizes the vagina. It also often invades the urethra or paraurethral glands, and even the bladder, renal pelvis, and the foreskin folds, urethra or prostate of men.

Mycotic vaginitis: caused by fungal infection. Its incidence rate is higher than that of Trichomonas vaginitis. In medicine, fungal infection is called Candida infection, so fungal vaginitis is also called Candidal vaginitis. It is more common in young girls, pregnant women, diabetic patients, and postmenopausal patients who have been treated with large doses of estrogen. The main symptoms of candidal vaginitis are also increased vaginal discharge and vulvar itching. However, the increased vaginal discharge caused by candidal vaginitis is watery or pus-like, mixed with cheese-like or tofu-like substances.

Increased leucorrhea: Leucorrhea is a female vaginal discharge. The normal leucorrhea of women is an odorless, slightly acidic viscous substance that has the functions of moistening the vagina, excreting waste, and inhibiting the growth of pathogens. It is a normal physiological phenomenon. In healthy women, the increase in vaginal discharge is directly proportional to the increase in estrogen levels in the body. For example, increased leucorrhea may occur during ovulation or pregnancy, when the endometrium grows too long, or after the use of estrogen drugs. The increased leucorrhea that deserves special attention is the leucorrhea caused by pathological secretions.

Cervical erosion: Cervical erosion is not an independent disease, but a manifestation of chronic cervicitis caused by human papillomavirus infection. After cervical erosion occurs, the leucorrhea often increases and becomes thicker, and may occasionally be purulent or bloody, accompanied by low back pain, abdominal pain, and a feeling of heaviness in the lower abdomen. Sexual intercourse may also cause contact bleeding or odor.

A general character examination is to observe the color and character of vaginal discharge.
