What are the functions of deep-sea fish oil and what are the therapeutic effects of deep-sea fish oil?

EPA and DHA contained in fish oil belong to the Ω-3 series of polyunsaturated fatty acids. They are important nutrients that the human body cannot synthesize but are indispensable, so they are called essential fatty acids for the human body. So what are the benefits of deep sea fish oil?

Prevention and treatment of coronary heart disease

Coronary heart disease is mainly caused by excessive fat deposition in blood vessels, which leads to stenosis of blood vessels and insufficient blood supply. Fish oil or ω-3 long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids can inhibit the synthesis of endogenous cholesterol and endogenous triglycerides, reduce serum total cholesterol, triglycerides, low-density lipoprotein and very low-density lipoprotein (all of which are factors causing atherosclerosis); at the same time, they can assist the body's "good cholesterol" - high-density lipoprotein cholesterol to remove excess fat from the blood vessel walls, increase blood fluidity, and allow blood to flow smoothly. Therefore, fish oil is also called the "scavenger" in blood vessels.

According to 15 large studies involving more than 60,000 subjects, the risk of total death and coronary heart disease death decreased by nearly 30% after consuming fish oil or ω-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids; an intervention study of more than 11,000 patients with recent myocardial infarction showed that daily intake of 1 gram of ω-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids for 3.5 years reduced the overall mortality rate by 20%, the cardiovascular mortality rate by 30%, and the sudden death rate by 45%, proving that fish oil or ω-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids have a preventive and therapeutic effect on patients with coronary heart disease.

Promote brain and retinal development

DHA is a very critical fatty acid for brain development, accounting for about 10% of brain lipids. It is one of the fatty acids with the highest content in the brain and is commonly known as "brain gold." Animal experiments show that reasonable supplementation of DHA can enhance information transmission in the brain and improve memory.

60% of the information the human brain receives comes from vision. DHA is an important component of the retina. When DHA is deficient, a person's visual function will be impaired, which in turn affects their reaction and observation abilities. DHA can provide the nutrients needed by the optic nerves and promote retinal development.

Enhance immune regulation

Immunoregulatory function is a key factor in the body's normal defense capability and immune stability. If the level of immune regulation is low or disordered, the body's resistance will be reduced, making it easy to get infected. It may also make the immune response too strong and cause allergic diseases.

Omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids can increase the softness of cell membranes, increase the activity of immune cells, and enhance immune function. DHA can also inhibit the body's inflammatory response. Clinical studies have found that arachidonic acid (ARA) can synthesize substances in the body that cause inflammation and allergies. If you take an appropriate amount of DHA, you can avoid the formation of excessive ARA and reduce the chance of excessive inflammatory reactions and allergies. Studies have shown that after taking fish oil for 12 and 24 weeks, patients with rheumatoid arthritis can significantly improve their fatigue and joint pain symptoms.
