What is the reason for bleeding in the stool without pain?

The so-called bleeding in the stool is what we often call painless blood in the stool. The reason for this phenomenon is mostly caused by disease factors, such as internal hemorrhoids, schistosomiasis, colon cancer, rectal and colon polyps.

1. Internal hemorrhoids

Internal hemorrhoids may sometimes cause blood on toilet paper after defecation, or blood may drip or spurt.

2. Schistosomiasis

There is a history of contact with infected water, which often manifests as chronic diarrhea, pus-like or bloody stools.

3. Colon cancer

When the stool becomes thinner and is accompanied by mucus, pus and blood, colon cancer should be suspected.

4. Rectal and colon polyps

When there are polyps in the rectum, sigmoid colon or descending colon, there will be fresh blood attached to the stool.

5. Bacillary dysentery

The stool is often bloody and pus-like, with a small amount each time, often accompanied by a feeling of tenesmus; in the chronic stage, there are intermittent episodes of mucus, pus and blood in the stool, which are characteristically painless.

6. Amebic dysentery

The stools are mostly jam-like or dark red, with large amounts and often accompanied by purulent mucus. Patients often have fever, abdominal distension, abdominal pain and tenesmus.

7. Ulcerative colitis

The stool is generally mucus, pus and bloody, and in severe cases it may be bloody and watery.

①Hemorrhoids

Internal hemorrhoids of all stages and mixed hemorrhoids can cause bleeding in the stool, usually with fresh blood in the stool or blood dripping after defecation.

② Rectal prolapse

Bleeding during bowel movements may occur after a long illness.

③ Rectal polyps

It is painless stool bleeding. Bleeding occurs during bowel movements and stops after bowel movements. The amount of blood varies. Generally, the blood is not mixed with feces. However, if the polyps are located high and the number is large, they may also be mixed with feces.

2. Bloody stools

①Ulcerative colitis

Mucus or bloody stools, accompanied by left lower abdominal pain or lower abdominal pain.

② Rectal cancer

The blood is fresh or dark red, and there may be mucus in the stool. Blood, mucus and stool are often mixed.

③ Colon cancer

As the disease progresses, bloody stools gradually appear, mostly containing pus or mucus, and the blood is darker in color.
