How to treat cerebral palsy spasticity?

For cerebral palsy, most people have spastic type. The main symptom of many patients is increased muscle tone. They will show some abnormalities when walking, such as tiptoeing or scissors steps. So how to treat cerebral palsy spasticity?

So, how should we treat these patients with cerebral palsy? In fact, it is not difficult. These patients with spastic cerebral palsy are suitable for FSPR surgery, which can solve the problem of high muscle tone. The specific surgical site can be determined according to the patient's specific condition: surgery in the lumbar spine can solve the spasm caused by excessive muscle tone in the lower limbs, and surgery in the cervical spine can solve the spasm caused by excessive muscle tone in the upper limbs. Moreover, the wound is small and the recovery is quick. The child will be able to see obvious results after three months.

In detail, FSPR comprehensively adjusts the patient's muscle tension by treating the posterior roots of the spinal nerves, so that the muscle tension of the spastic muscles is as close to the normal state as possible. The muscle spasms of cerebral palsy patients are not limited to a single muscle, but often manifest as spasms of multiple muscles or muscle groups. This surgery can achieve the effect of comprehensively adjusting muscle tension, and can solve the pain of muscle spasms in patients in a long-term, stable and complete manner, providing the prerequisite for maximal recovery of their motor function.

After the Spring Festival this year, I treated a 4-year-old patient who suffered from spastic cerebral palsy due to difficult labor. When she came to the hospital to see me, she could not stand or walk, had limited ankle joint movement, and also had foot drop and scissor steps. Now, after receiving FSPR treatment, she can walk independently. Within 15 days of being in the hospital, her foot drop and scissor gait had been basically corrected. After 45 days of treatment, she could walk 300 meters independently and do squats. Therefore, as long as the treatment method is appropriate, it is not an unattainable dream for children with spastic cerebral palsy to walk again. However, before surgery, a complete set of scientific and reasonable individualized treatment plans should be established based on the different conditions of each patient, including preoperative evaluation and selection of appropriate methods. At the same time, long-term and formal rehabilitation training should be maintained after the implementation of FSPR to ensure the effectiveness of rehabilitation.
