Dry crusting inside nose

Dry crusting inside nose

The dry scabs inside the nose are what we often call nasal mucus. Nasal mucus is a normal phenomenon, but if it is accompanied by dryness, it may be caused by cold or dry environment. In addition to finding out the cause and solving it, it is also very important to clean the nasal mucus correctly. After all, nasal mucus is formed in the nasal cavity. So, how to deal with dry scabs inside the nose?

What's wrong with having a lot of boogers?

Everyone has nasal mucus, and nasal mucus can also be used as an indicator of whether the human body is healthy. There are many reasons for the occurrence of nasal mucus. A moderate amount of nasal mucus is normal, so there is no need to worry. Generally, when you have a cold or your body is chilled, the nasal mucosa will be irritated and produce a large amount of secretions. Nasal mucus is also more likely to appear in dry weather or places with poor air quality. Therefore, if you want to have less nasal mucus, you should ensure your body is healthy, keep warm, avoid catching a cold, and eat light food.

How does booger come from?

Nasal mucus is the normal secretion in the nasal cavity. The amount depends on the weather, humidity, your working and living environment, and yourself. What should you do if your nose is dry and full of mucus? If this happens all year round, it may be due to yourself or the surrounding environment. No matter what the problem is, you should drink more water, eat more fruits and vegetables, and do not dig hard when there is secretion in the nasal cavity. Digging hard will damage the capillaries, and in severe cases it will cause nosebleeds and bacterial infection. It is recommended to drip 0.5%-1% ephedrine saline solution into the nose, 1-2 drops on each side; if dry scab is found, use a medical cotton swab dipped in a little cold boiled water, and drip 1-2 drops into the nostril. After 1 minute, gently rub the nose to push out the dry scab, and then squeeze a little chloramphenicol eye ointment to lubricate the nasal cavity.

Cleaning methods

Picking nose with fingers

This is the most unsightly and unhealthy way to clean. Picking your nose with your fingers can easily break your nose hair and cause nose bleeding, leading to nasal infection.

Use paper to wipe out the mucus in the nostrils

This method is better than the former one, but if the softness of the paper and the strength are not controlled well, it may also damage the nasal mucosa. At the same time, the disadvantage is that only a small part of the nasal mucus can be cleaned.

Nose wash to remove nasal mucus

The water used for nasal washing is warm saline with a concentration of about 0.9% iodine-free salt, which is the same concentration as normal saline. Pour the prepared saline into the neti pot to rinse your nasal cavity. Its functions include softening the mucus and eventually cleaning the nasal passages; removing harmful substances from the nasal cavity; gradually alleviating nasal inflammation and fundamentally reducing the amount of mucus produced.
