Many people inexplicably find many keloids on their ears. Keloids are divided into physiological and pathological types. Pathological ones mainly appear around the ears and form a lump-like shape, which is called keloid. Most of them are sporadic, and some are related to genetic factors. The cause of the disease is often severe trauma and vaccination. Scars are divided into physiological scars and pathological scars. The flat scar formed after normal wound healing is called a physiological scar, and the hypertrophic raised scar formed by abnormal healing is called a pathological scar, which includes hypertrophic scars and keloids. Keloid is an ancient disease. As early as the 13th century, keloid was described in the carvings and paintings of the Yoruba people in western Nigeria. In recent years, people have conducted a lot of research on it from multiple angles such as molecular biology, genetics, histology, and immunology, and have a deeper understanding of keloid. However, its formation mechanism has not been revealed so far. Keloid seems to have become a long and eternal problem. Occurrence of keloid: The incidence of keloid in the population is not clear, but it is currently recognized that keloid has the tendency to be racially specific, site-susceptible and familial. Genetic background of keloids: Most keloids are sporadic cases, but some have a genetic tendency. The initial cause of keloid: The initial cause of keloid is often unclear. It can be caused by inflammation, trauma, vaccination, mosquito bites, insect bites, surgery, etc. It can be divided into three types: primary, secondary and forward. The investigation results of our cases are as follows: trauma and puncture are the main inducing factors. All earlobe keloids are caused by puncture. However, there are also 7 cases with bilateral earlobe puncture, but only one side has keloid. One of them is due to infection after puncture on the right side, forming a scar behind the ear and neck, affecting neck movement. The inducing factors of chest scars are mostly small and unnoticed damage such as scratching after mosquito bites. A considerable part of the keloids have continuous secretion of sebaceous glands in them, which constantly stimulates and causes the scar to enlarge. It is worth noting that surgery is the second cause of keloids. Keloids have certain common sites. It is generally believed that they are prone to occur in the chest, deltoid muscle, scapular area, upper back, lower limbs, upper limbs, abdomen, earlobes, and mandible, while the incidence of keloids in the eyelids, forehead, lower back, external genitalia, palms, soles of the feet, cornea, mucosal tissue and umbilical cord is low. The most common site of this group of cases is the chest, followed by the earlobes and shoulders. The occurrence of keloids on the chest and shoulders may be related to the high local skin tension and shoulder joint activity. Scars occurring in uncommon sites must be handled with caution. Treatment of keloid: Because the mechanism of occurrence is unclear, there is no ideal treatment so far. The current treatment methods mainly include: drug injection into scar; compression therapy; surgical resection and auxiliary radiotherapy, etc. |
