From the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine, there are three main ways to cause visual fatigue:

1. Liver and kidney deficiency: The ancients said: When the liver and kidney qi are full, one will be splendid and bright, while when the liver and kidney qi are deficient, one will be dull and dizzy. The liver and kidney have the same origin, the kidney is where essence is stored, and the liver is where blood is stored. Liver blood depends on kidney essence for nourishment, and kidney essence depends on liver blood for replenishment. Only when the eyes are nourished by essence and blood can the vision be sharp. Therefore, if the liver and kidneys are sufficient, the eyes will be clear. In addition, the liver has the function of dredging qi. Liver qi can directly reach the eyes, transporting essence, blood, and qi to the eyes, making them bright.

2. Weak spleen: The spleen is responsible for transportation and transformation, and is the source of Qi and blood production. When the spleen is functioning well, the eyes are nourished by qi, blood, essence and spirit, and the vision is bright; if the spleen is not functioning well, the eyes are deprived of nourishment and become blurry. Therefore, if the spleen is strong, the eyes will be bright. 3. Deficiency of heart blood is caused by blood nourishing the body. Blood carries nutrients throughout the body, including the eyes. The eyes can see because of blood. If the heart blood is deficient, the eyes will lose nourishment and the vision will be affected. Therefore, if the heart has sufficient blood, the eyes will be bright.
