1. Analysis of the morbidity and mortality of tumors in China

With the combined influence of environmental pollution, increasing aging population and changes in lifestyle, China has become the country with the highest number of new cancer cases. According to data, the national cancer situation is severe, with the incidence and mortality rates continuing to rise. Each year, there are approximately 4.292 million new cancer cases and 2.814 million cancer deaths. Lung cancer, stomach cancer, colorectal cancer, liver cancer and esophageal cancer are currently the most common types of malignant tumors in China, accounting for 64% of cancer diagnoses in China; breast cancer, cervical cancer, prostate cancer and thyroid cancer are the types with the fastest growing incidence.

◆With increasing age, the incidence and mortality rates of both Chinese men and women gradually increase.

◆Because the cancer spectrum in China is different from that in the United States and diagnosis is generally late, the cancer mortality rate in China is higher than the global average.

2. Current status and trends of cancer prevalence in China

◆Three surveys on causes of death among Chinese residents in the 1970s, 1990s and early 2000s showed that the mortality rate from malignant tumors gradually increased for both men and women.

◆The incidence of lung cancer is gradually increasing, and the incidence of digestive tract tumors is also gradually increasing.

◆Lung cancer and breast cancer rank first in the incidence of tumors in men and women in my country respectively. The overall incidence of digestive tract tumors has been increasing year by year.
