What are the eye anti-inflammatory drugs?

The eyes are a very important part of our body and also a very sensitive place. If we don’t pay attention to them, it is easy to get infected. The most common solution to infection or inflammation is to take anti-inflammatory drugs. Therefore, after the symptoms of eye inflammation appear, the anti-inflammatory drugs that can treat it are a concern for many people. So, what are the anti-inflammatory drugs for the eyes? Let’s take a look below.

1. What are the anti-inflammatory drugs?

1.1 Penicillins

Commonly used ones include penicillin G, penicillin V, methicillin (New Penicillin I), ampicillin (ampicillin), amoxicillin (hydroxyampicillin), ticarcillin (carboxytic thiophene penicillin), piperacillin (oxypiperacillin), etc. Suitable for respiratory tract, skin and soft tissue, urinary and reproductive tract infections, etc.

1.2 Cephalosporins

Can be divided into four generations. The first-generation cephalosporins for injection include cefazolin (Xianfeng No. 5), cefadroxil (Xianfeng No. 6), etc., and the oral ones include cephalexin (Xianfeng No. 4), cefadroxil (Xianfeng No. 6), cefadroxil, etc. Suitable for respiratory tract, skin and soft tissue, urinary and reproductive tract infections, etc.

1.3. New β-lactams

Such as the carbapenems of imipenem/cilastatin (trade name: Tylenol) and meropenem. Carbapenems are the class of antimicrobial drugs with the broadest antibacterial spectrum and the strongest antibacterial effect developed to date. They have the characteristics of broad spectrum, strong efficacy, and low incidence of bacterial resistance, but they are expensive. Suitable for infections anywhere in the body.

1.4 Aminoglycosides

Aminoglycosides are broad-spectrum antibiotics with good bactericidal effects on Gram-negative bacteria and are suitable for lower respiratory tract, urinary tract, intestinal infections, etc.

2. Side effects of anti-inflammatory drugs

2.1. Gastrointestinal reactions. This is the most common side effect of anti-inflammatory drugs, mainly manifested by symptoms such as stomach discomfort, abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea and vomiting.

2.2. Damage to liver and kidney functions. All drugs must be metabolized by the liver and finally excreted from the body through the kidneys. Therefore, all drugs, including anti-inflammatory drugs, will increase the burden on the liver and kidneys. Frequent use will damage the function of the liver and kidneys. Therefore, drugs should not be taken indiscriminately.

2.3. Damage to hearing. It is ototoxic and can damage the auditory nerve, thereby impairing hearing and causing deafness. Representatives of this type of antibiotics are gentamicin, amikacin, streptomycin, tobramycin, etc.

2.4. Affects children's bone development. Quinolone antibiotics can affect children's cartilage development and bone growth, so they are prohibited for use in children. Representatives of this type of drug include ciprofloxacin, ofloxacin, etc.

2.5. Allergic reaction. Penicillins and cephalosporin antibiotics can easily cause allergic reactions in the body and even lead to anaphylactic shock and death.

2.6. Secondary infection. Long-term and excessive use of broad-spectrum antibiotics will kill many beneficial bacteria, leading to an imbalance in the body's flora and making secondary infections more likely to occur.

3. How many days can you take anti-inflammatory drugs?

Chinese patent medicine anti-inflammatory drugs can be taken for 10 days, and no more than half a month. Western medicine anti-inflammatory drugs should be taken for about 7 days. No matter what kind of anti-inflammatory drugs it is, they must be taken under the guidance of a doctor and cannot be taken on your own.
