Should I use hot or cold compress for blood stasis?

Should I use hot or cold compress for blood stasis?

In life, there are many times when we encounter accidents, such as bruising our knees and so on. If it is just a minor injury, the pain will often subside after a period of time. If it is a little more serious, bruising will occur on the skin. When faced with such a situation, the most important thing people should do is to handle it correctly. So the question is, is it best to apply hot or cold compresses when there is blood stasis?

Use cold compress first, because cold compress can make the affected area feel comfortable, and at the same time it can constrict blood vessels to stop bleeding. Apply hot compress after a period of time to allow the blood vessels to dilate, remove blood stasis and reduce swelling in the affected area.

About cold compress: It mainly cools the surface of the affected area to allow blood vessels to contract to the surrounding area, thereby controlling and reducing the degree of bruising and pain. Suitable for abrasions, sprains, bruises, minor knife wounds, minor burns, fever, headache, toothache, nosebleed, insect bites, high intraocular pressure, etc.

About hot compress: increasing the temperature of the skin surface, dilating blood vessels, increasing blood flow, reducing pain, and allowing the patient to produce more nutrients and protective elements. Suitable for rheumatism, arthritis, back pain, muscle soreness, nasal congestion, neck pain, menstrual pain and sports injuries.

Do not apply cold or hot compress for more than 30 minutes, and then let the skin rest for 5-10 minutes. This is a cycle of treatment until the soothing effect is achieved. Hot compress must be applied 1 to 2 days after the injury.

Cold compresses must be applied within 24 hours of injury

Apply cold compress within 24 hours after injury and apply hot compress after 24 hours! Be careful not to apply or take blood circulation and blood stasis medicine immediately to avoid bleeding and swelling of the wound! You can use the medicine the next day!
